Anna Delvey Says She Takes ‘Nothing’ Away From DWTS Experience After Elimination

Anna Delvey certainly left a mark on Dancing with the Stars, even during her short tenure on the show. But the feeling doesn’t seem to be mutual as the controversial contestant claimed she’d take nothing from the show after her elimination.

The answer is actually on brand for Anna, who generally doesn’t show too much emotion. She and her partner, Ezra Sosa were eliminated in the September 24 episode along with Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov.

DWTS didn’t make an impression on Anna Delvey?

Anna’s casting in the show was controversial and there was definitely backlash to her being included in the lineup. This may have contributed to her response when cohost Julianne Hough asked Anna what she was going to take away from her DWTS experience after her elimination.

“Nothing,” Anna replied.

“There you have it, absolutely nothing,” Julianne reiterated. For his part, Anna’s dance partner Ezra just shook his head and smiled. While Alfonso Riberio added, “You had fun, stop it!”

And while she may have had fun, it was an uphill battle for the “fake heiress.” Ezra confirmed this after the premiere when he posted that Anna was in tears after all the hate online. He asked for some grace for his partner. The pair danced the Quickstep to KT Tunstall’s Suddenly I See.

In the same episode, Anna admitted to feeling “so upset” about comments people posted online after the season premiere. Most of the comments focused on her criminal history and ongoing deportation case among other disparaging remarks.

And Ezra wasn’t the only one asking for empathy for Anna. DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba also urged viewers and fans to give Anna a fair chance. She also admitted that putting herself out there like this must have been scary for Anna.

Actress Julia Fox also appeared in the episode and stopped by Anna and Ezra’s rehearsal for a quick pep talk. She mentioned believing Anna’s tough exterior was a defense mechanism and that it was hard for her to see people being so nasty to Anna online.

It’s possible Anna’s elimination was both sad and a relief at the same time for her.

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
