The first season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives left us hanging with several cliffhangers. After Taylor Frankie Paul revealed that she was getting a divorce and involved in “soft swinging,” #MomTok imploded. The group is made up of Mormon moms who are influencers. When the group came back together, Whitney Leavitt was wary of Taylor. She even skipped her baby shower! Now Whitney is sharing why she decided to exit the #MomTok group chat.
Whitney Leavitt claimed that Demi Engemann revealed a secret about her
During the Hulu series, Whitney told Taylor that she didn’t trust her anymore. However, the group sided with Taylor during their feud, which shocked Whitney.
Recently, Whitney was a guest on The Squeeze podcast, and she spilled the tea about why she ditched the #MomTok group chat. During the girls’ trip to Park City, they played a game with a “truth box.” The ladies wrote down anonymous questions and then took turns pulling them out to answer. During this game, Whitney called Demi Engemann “white trash.” Spoiler alert: Demi wasn’t thrilled.
“But, after that, when Taylor [Frankie Paul] and I had gone up [to bed], Demi had shared a very personal and very vulnerable story of mine,” Whitney said, “that I had no idea she had shared until that evening. Because that scene where I have toilet paper on my heel … I couldn’t compose myself because right before that Mayci [Neeley] has asked me if that was true.” Whitney added, “I just couldn’t believe that, regardless of you telling the other woman, that you had brought that on a national television show.”
Then Whitney started to cry during the interview and declined to share what Demi told her co-stars. “I think if Demi knew how dark that moment was [and] me being under that treatment and how hard that was and how vulnerable that was for me, I don’t think she would have shared,” Whitney stated.
Whitney Leavitt popped out of the group chat
So, Whitney made the painful decision to pull away from #MomTok. “I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know if I can do this.’ That was such a vulnerable and personal thing in my life that I felt was taken away from me,” Whitney explained. While Demi and Whitney haven’t spoken yet, Whitney stated that “maybe in the future” they can discuss it.
During the finale, Whitney left #MomTok as she and her husband, Connor Leavitt, played with the idea of being homesteaders. As to whether Whitney will return to #MomTok? Whitney has “no ill feelings” towards her former friends. “I wish them the best,” she stated. But she added that there would need to be “so many conversations” before she could return to the influencer group.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu.
