In case you missed it, Kelly Bensimon recently made a surprise appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and of course, Andy Cohen couldn’t help but ask about her failed engagement to Scott Litner.
Earlier this year, the Real Housewives of New York alum was practically a runaway bride when she called off her engagement just four days before the wedding. Now that some time has passed, she’s finally sharing more insight into what went wrong and where her dating life stands today.
Kelly Bensimon’s wedding that almost happened
Scott originally popped the question to Kelly during the Fourth of July weekend of 2023. They planned their wedding for the following summer, only for Kelly to call things off just four days before the ceremony. At the time, the word on the street was that Scott refused to sign a prenup.
On WWHL, Andy commended Kelly for being brave enough to cancel the wedding with such short notice. Let’s be real: most of us would have just gone along with it at that point. With that in mind, Andy noted, “You just saved a lot of tumult.”
“I did, I did,” Kelly agreed, before diving into all of the juicy details of the breakup.
“First of all, he wouldn’t sign my prenup,” Kelly confessed. “As so I’m like, I’m protecting my kids, that’s what I’m doing. I’m a single parent, they’re my forever. And just because I love someone doesn’t mean I’m not gonna make sure they’re safe.”
As far as Kelly’s love life goes today, she confirmed she’s single. However, she is open to “new possibilities.” She’s dating. She’s having fun, and any future guys that come her way now know that a prenup is non-negotiable.
