Real Housewives of New York Season 15 is upon us, with an utterly lovesick Ubah Hassan. As fans may recall, Season 14 ended with Ubah revealing her new man. Well, not entirely by choice. Ubah had meant to keep it a secret but nothing ever stays too secret on Housewives.
Before long, outlets identified “Mr. Connecticut” as Oliver Daschel, a German investment banker. So, between Ubah’s RHONY feuds, she now has some room for love.
Even her Season 15 tagline demonstrated her love-struck ways. “Love looks good on me, but darling, what doesn’t?” Of course, that doesn’t mean Oliver started entirely on the right foot. Take it from Ubah herself.
Ubah Hassan had sworn off men before meeting Oliver
Recently, Ubah appeared on The Happy Hour via SiriusXM’s TODAY Show Radio. During her chat, Ubah shared how she met her boyfriend. The two first bumped into each other in 2018 at a dinner she hosted for a friend. However, that meeting slipped Ubah’s mind. Only “a few years later” would the couple receive formal introductions at a board meeting.
“Oliver moved to the side of me and he’s like ‘We met before,’” Ubah said. “And I was like, ‘Oh my God. I have heard this line so many times from guys.’ That’s how they can start talking to you.” As such, Ubah wanted to reply, “Where? PornHub?” Fortunately, she held her tongue. Oliver began listing their mutual connections. But Ubah took that as public information.
“I’m just thinking [in] my head because you know … you have so many frogs in your life, [that] when a real man comes, everything they say, [you’re] kind of like, ‘Ugh. Of course, you know them because I am out with them all the time.’” Once Oliver mentioned one of Ubah’s personal friends, she realized, “This guy does know me.”
From there, Ubah remembered the initial dinner where they’d met. She recalled, “Oh my God, I had such a bad wig that day!” From there, Oliver got Ubah’s number from one of her friends. And things went well, despite Ubah swearing off men “two days before that.”
