Real Housewives of New York Season 15 became an inevitability after the success of Season 14. The all-new cast captured the hearts of hundreds of thousands of viewers. In particular, Jenna Lyons made a real splash with RHONY fans.
Jenna broke the typical Housewives mold in many ways. She seemed a little more down-to-earth than the average Bravolebrity. She was also the first openly gay New York Housewife, which added some much-needed representation to the franchise.
Of course, with her success and popularity, it didn’t seem like Jenna needed RHONY as much as RHONY needed her. Once Season 14 ended, fans weren’t sure if Jenna would return. Ultimately, she made the choice to come back. As it turns out, Jenna’s new castmates, Rebecca Minkoff and Racquel Chevremont, helped persuade her to come back.
Why Jenna Lyons returned to RHONY despite some fans thinking she’d bow out
On the October 1 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Jenna explained why she chose to return to RHONY. “Last time it was hard and I kind of got taken down,” she explained. As far as Season 14 went, Jenna had it pretty easy compared to some drama we’ve seen in this franchise, but she was new to this whole thing. Nevertheless, she shared, “I wasn’t used to that.”
So, what softened her mood on the chance to do another season? As Jenna put it, “Then when I heard that Racquel was coming and Rebecca, I was like, ‘Okay.’ I felt like the dynamic will shift.” She added, “I was the oldest woman. I was 15 years older than all of those women and that is a real divide.”
However, Jenna’s new castmates helped her feel a little more at ease. “Having another gay lady who is also hot [helped],” she said. Jenna repeated once more that she thought Racquel was “so hot.” As it stands, fans are all too happy to see Jenna back for another season. Here’s hoping she retains all that made her great in Season 14.
