The Golden Bachelorette Episode 3 is here, and the show is already one of my favorite Bachelor Nation seasons ever. Joan Vassos is putting her all into her journey for a second great love and has already done an amazing job. With 14 men left during Week 3, Joan began focusing on which suitors she could see a potential future with. From two romantic one-on-one dates to a crazy group date, here’s everything that went down during The Golden Bachelorette Episode 3!

A quick trip to Las Vegas aka Paris

While the men are loving their time with Joan, they haven’t been getting the best sleep. Several of them complained about waking up due to the others snoring and getting up throughout the night. Pascal, on the other hand, is having trouble taking care of himself in the mansion. While the other men cook, clean, and do their laundry, Pascal has everyone else do it for him. He really is quite high-maintenance!

Luckily for the rest of the men, they got some time off taking care of Pascal when he was selected for the first one-on-one. Joan rolled up to the mansion in a red convertible, which Pascal was overjoyed to see. The date was perfect for boujie Pascal, as Joan planned to take him to Las Vegas for the day. With a private jet no less! After arriving in Vegas, Joan took Pascal to the iconic Paris Hotel, which is fitting as he was born in Paris. The pair spent a fun day trying on new outfits and dancing, with Pascal even claiming he felt like he was in Pretty Women. He is really something else!

Back at the mansion, Charles L and Gary decided to take a field trip to a local pharmacy to fix their sleeping problems. The men loaded up on eye masks, ear plugs, and melatonin in hopes of keeping noise levels down at night. This might’ve been my favorite scene from this episode. Anyways, during the night portion of Joan and Pascal’s date, he opened up about how he got to where he is today. While Pascal grew up in Paris, his family struggled with money which made him determined to create a better life for himself in the US. Joan was touched by his story and later awarded him the rose.

The Golden Bachelorette Quaker Oats Kick Bowl takes place during Episode 3

The group date this week was a kickball game, aka The Golden Bachelorette Quaker Oats Kick Bowl. Keith is thrilled, as he loves to start his mornings with Quaker Oats. You just have to love these guys. The 12 men are divided into two teams, red and blue. In the midst of the chaos, several of the men pulled some muscles and slightly hurt themselves. That didn’t stop them from playing hard, however, and as Chock pointed out there was nothing they wouldn’t do for Joan. After a close game, the blue team emerged victorious and won extra time at an after-party with Joan.

While the red team was upset to have to go back to the mansion, the blue team was elated about extra time. Charles L used his time with Joan to talk about an important conversation he had with Guy back at the mansion. Right before his wife passed away, Charles noticed blood dripping from her mouth. For years, Charles worried that he had missed something, As an ER doctor, Guy was able to provide some clarity for Charles and explained that his wife had probably bit her tongue. Charles was thankful to Guy for the explanation and Joan was equally grateful to Charles for opening up.

Before continuing with the rest of the conversations, Joan received a troubling call from home. Joan’s 92-year-old mother Mary was sick, which quickly caused Joan to feel distressed and even guilty. Thankfully, the men were there to help lift Joan’s spirits. Gary assured Joan he would pray for Mary, while Gil opened up about adopting his daughter. At the end of the date, Joan decided to give the group date rose to Gil.

Horseback riding with Jonathan

Jonathan was the lucky recipient of the second one-on-one date of the week, although he didn’t seem to feel so lucky. After hearing his name on the date card, Jonathan admitted he was hoping to be on the group date. In all my years of watching Bachelor Nation seasons, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone say this.

Joan surprised Jonathan with horseback riding for their date, although they were both rookies. Jonathan has never ridden a horse, while Joan has an inherent fear of them. Nonetheless, the pair conquered the activity together and enjoyed a nice ride through the fields. Back at the mansion, Kim is trying to encourage the men to join him in practicing a song for Joan he wrote titled The Mansion Men. None of the men want to do it besides Kim, who is left feeling frustrated.

After taking a break from the horses, Jonathan opened up to Joan about his divorce. Jonathan explained that his feelings during the divorce resurfaced when he was packing his bags before the date. Now I see why he was so unsure about the one-on-one. Joan assured Jonathan that she wanted him there and offered him the rose which he gladly accepted.

A surprise visitor at the Rose Ceremony

Despite a great week with the men, Joan was still having a hard time on her way to the rose ceremony. She felt that while the men were being vulnerable with her, she wasn’t doing the same in return. As a result, Joan decided to get some things off her chest before starting the night. Joan sat down with the men and admitted that she was missing her family and explained how worried she was about her mom. Furthermore, Joan explained that while she wanted love, she couldn’t give a hundred percent due to her love for her husband John.

The men were more than understanding of Joan’s feelings. Chock pulled her first and let her know that he was always there for her. Gary then surprised Joan with a prayer he had written for Mary, who had since gotten better. Charles L took a big step by showing Joan a picture of his wife, which she appreciated.

Bachelor Nation fans know that no episode can ever go too long without a twist. It was a shock when Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner showed up to chat with Joan. Despite their break-up, Gerry and Joan have remained good friends. Gerry explained that he wanted to offer Joan some advice and support her. She was happy to see him and the visit seemed to lift her spirits. Joan’s mood was even further elevated when Guy decided to join Kim in performing The Mansion Men song.

Unfortunately for Kim, his efforts fell short as he was eliminated along with Gregg and Charles K at the rose ceremony. He didn’t forget to sing on his way out though!

The Golden Bachelorette continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
