It’s never easy to see a loved one struggling. And for Brie Garcia, it’s probably even harder to watch her twin Nikki Garcia navigate the rough waters of divorce. Nikki is currently going through a split from Artem Chigvintsev following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.
While there is still a lot that remains unknown, it’s sure to be a hard time for both Nikki and Artem and those who care about them and their family. Nikki has asked for privacy and stayed relatively quiet but things are getting ugly and it looks like it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
Brie Garcia wishes she could help her sister
On a recent episode of the sisters’ podcast, The Nikki and Brie Show, Brie shared that she’s “looked at trauma in the face” and that “the last week has been so hard.”
She added, “All you wanna do is help. You want it to stop, but you realize it’s not your trauma, especially if you’re not the one dealing with it and you’re seeing someone else deal with it.” She admitted that one of the hardest parts is realizing that “It’s not for you to fix.”
Although Brie may not have referenced Nikki and the divorce directly, it did seem pretty obvious that she was referring to her sister’s ongoing legal battle. And it looks like it’s just getting started.
Artem was arrested on August 29 on charges of corporal injury to a spouse though no criminal charges were filed. Nikki then filed for divorce in September, listing the date of separation as the day of the arrest. She is also seeking legal and physical custody of their son Matteo.
On the podcast, Brie continued to share, “I have felt sadness in ways that maybe death could compare. I literally have lost sleep. I lay in my bed with my eyes open, and I think and I just think and think. But the major thing I think of is: How can I fix things and how can I help?”
Brie did mention her twin towards the end. Brie told listeners that she, her sister, and a whole army of women are there to support and help anyone going through trauma and don’t feel seen or heard.
She also mentioned Nikki would be returning soon to the podcast although she didn’t give a specific date.
