Why RHOP’s Dr. Wendy Osefo Gave up Her Job as a Professor

Class is no longer in session. Dr. Wendy Osefo announced that she has left her job as a professor. If you’ve been watching closely, this career update has been a long time coming. Every season on Real Housewives of Potomac, Wendy has tried cooking up new business ventures. She’s been a political commentator, a chandler, and an author. You name it, Wendy has done it.

Now, that she’s officially left her professorship, there are two lingering questions. What’s next for Dr. Wendy, and how in the hell is she going to explain this to her mother?

When we first met Wendy on RHOP, she came fully loaded with an arsenal full of scholarly clapbacks, and she made it well known that she was proud of her role at Johns Hopkins University. That passion has evolved over the years, and during the premiere of RHOP Season 9, Wendy announced that she left her university position because she no longer felt “fulfilled.”

“I wanted to resign for a very long time,” Wendy confessed. “I’m turning 40, but I still have other things to do.”

Part of what she wants to do is focus on her YouTube channel and her online candle store, where you can buy two candles for a cool $100. Most importantly, she wants to focus on her three kiddos. That’s a full-time job in itself.

“I have a known life outside of me being a professor,” Wendy explained in the episode.

On RHOP, the cameras rolled as Wendy typed up her resignation letter. She pressed send, and there was no turning back! Her husband, Eddie Osefo, joined her in the room to celebrate. That’s when Wendy admitted she had mixed emotions about the change.

On one hand, Wendy said she was happy to exit the role on her own terms. At the same time, she felt some serious nerves about telling her mom. We all know that Iyom Susan Okuzu doesn’t play around, especially when it comes to Wendy’s career.

“There will be lots of curse words, proclamations to the lord, some holy ghost fire in there. A little razzle-dazzle,” Wendy predicted.

Season 9 of Real Housewives of Potomac continues on Bravo, Sunday nights at 8/7c.
