Southern Charm matriarch Patricia Altschul revealed some sad health news about one of Bravo’s most treasured supporting characters, Michael Kelcourse.
Michael had to step down as Patricia’s beloved butler/wrangler of her dog army a few years ago after suffering a debilitating stroke. Since then, he’s resided in assisted living. Unfortunately, Patricia just shared that her butler-turned-forever friend recently suffered another stroke. She’s now calling on friends and fans to help raise his spirits.
Patricia Altschul on her former butler, Michael Kelcourse: “I know he means so much to so many of you”
Charleston’s been missing much of its charm and world-class martinis after Michael suffered a spinal cord stroke in February 2021 that left him paralyzed from the chest down. After 17 years as Patricia’s butler, he entered an assisted living facility in Florida and has remained there to recover. Patricia has given periodic updates on Michael and shared photos from her visits.
Yesterday, Patricia posted on Instagram that she received the unfortunate news that Michael, 83, had had another stroke.
She began, “I am very sad to share that Michael has had another stroke. I am told that while he cannot read messages on his phone or Instagram, he can receive cards.”
Patricia continued, “His birthday is October 13th and it would be so nice if his fans would send him a card.” She then included his current address for anyone who’d like to send something to help brighten his spirits.
Patricia, who’s been married three times, once joked that her employer/employee rapport with Michael was the “most stable relationship [she’s] ever had.” He certainly was one of the most stable people to grace Southern Charm. We’re sending Michael all of our love and healing energy.
Southern Charm streams on Peacock.
