Why RHOC’s Gina Kirschenheiter Felt ‘Unsafe’ Living With Boyfriend Travis Mullen

There is officially zero reason to criticize Gina Kirschenheiter’s decision to live separately from her boyfriend Travis Mullen.

When we first saw them discuss their living arrangement on Real Housewives of Orange County, it just seemed like a symptom of a failing relationship. However, Gina recently revealed on The Viall Files podcast that she was scared for her safety thanks to Travis’s ex-wife, Meghan Mullen.

The relationship between Travis and his ex-wife has been a point of contention for quite some time. Last year, he filed a temporary restraining order against her. Slowly but surely, we’re getting more details into just how intense the situation became for Gina and her family.

Gina Kirschenheiter was left with no choice

Earlier this month, unearthed court documents showed how Meghan threatened them on social media and created a “dangerous environment” for the whole family. At one point, she even took to Instagram and threatened suicide and claimed her kids were being used as “pawns” against her.

On The Viall Files, Gina explained how the whole situation made her fearful. In particular, she felt concerned about the three children she shares with her ex-husband. Obviously, the kids always come first.

“The things that were happening from his other side were not okay. And I didn’t want my children around it anymore,” Gina explained.

She continued, “There were things that were happening that literally made me feel unsafe and that were affecting my kids. Look, Travis is a victim of this too. But that doesn’t mean that I want to continue to be in that environment.”

Adding onto the messiness of the situation, Gina said that all of their kids go to school together. That includes the kids Travis shares with Meghan. That created even more of an opportunity for drama, so Gina said she needed a change.

Gina added, “There were a few things that literally happened in front of me and my kids that just were really scary, you know. And I’m not here for that. And I’m certainly not here to put my kids through that.”

According to Gina, she isn’t in contact with Meghan, which is probably for the best. Travis doesn’t have that luxury, and he is working on fixing their co-parenting relationship. For now, he no longer has a restraining order against them, but Meghan has to stay sober anytime she’s with the kids and can be subjected to drug tests at any time.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo, Thursdays at 9/8c.
