Real Housewives Meets Hocus Pocus: Who Would Make the Perfect Sanderson Sisters?

Disney must have known they would have a hit on their hands when they released Hocus Pocus back in 1993. A movie about three witches who are resurrected to suck the lives out of the children of Salem was bound to bring the crowds. Even though the Sanderson Sisters were meant to be seen as villains, it was hard not to empathize with them. Winifred Sanderson, Sarah Sanderson, and Mary Sanderson were likable in their own way. Sarah was the sexy, flirty young witch. At the same time, Mary was a bit touched in the head. Winnie, however, kept her sister’s dreams of living forever alive as the brains of the group.

As All Hollows Eve approaches, it’s time to take a look at our beloved Real Housewives. Which Bravoleb would make the perfect Sanderson sister in a live-action movie? Until now, Casper, the friendly ghost, was their only competition.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna could have her own coven

I couldn’t help myself when I saw this family photo of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna and her two daughters, Amelia Gray and Delilah Belle. All three of them have that same haughty expression, for the lack of a better term. It looks as if they are looking down on the peasants from their tower or, better yet, from the gallows, as the Sanderson Sisters did at the beginning of the movie. It didn’t hurt that Delilah had platinum blonde hair like Sarah Sanderson in the photo.

Lisa, who played Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives, was once one of the most unlikable ladies to hit Salem. TV Salem, not the city where thousands of witches burned. Of course, Lisa would be Winifred, thanks to her ability to play the villain role so well. She’d ham the role up and fit right in. I can easily imagine these three performing a stage adaption and scaring the audience half to death.

Real Housewives of New York alum Luann de Lesseps is a hopeless romantic like Sarah Sanderson

I am putting Luann de Lesseps down as Sarah for no other reason than her love of performing and men. Due to Sarah’s haunting voice, she was responsible for luring children to their cottage by hypnotizing them with her singing. I’d have to argue that Luann also has a haunting vocal range that has kept many Bravo fans up at night. Sarah was a bit of an airhead mixed with part siren. Luann has definitely tried her best to lure men into her grasp. But most end up escaping after a brief dating period.

Like Sarah, Lu has had her fair share of flirtations. While the youngest Sanderson sister made friends with a bus driver, Lu cozied up to a pirate in St. Barths. The two often use their sexual prowess to get what they want. The upbeat tune of “Money can’t buy you class” can’t compare to the lullaby of “Come little children, I’ll take thee away…” So I’d say if Sarah had survived the sunrise, Luann would have had a run for her money.

Mary Sanderson has nothing on RHONY alum Kelly Bensimon’s spacey mindset

Kelly Bensimon isn’t dumb, but she is a bit airy fairy. When viewers first met the Real Housewives of New York star, she was jogging down Fifth Ave between taxis as if it were the most normal thing to do. Mary Sanderson was often seen as the secondary antagonist who also enjoyed stirring the cauldron. Even though Kelly usually acted as if she were the victim, she was also great at playing the mean girl. Kelly often butted heads with those who didn’t agree with her.

I always appreciated Mary’s character because she was the most caring of the Sanderson sisters, but only to her sisters. The same line of thinking could be applied to Kelly, who was very motherly when she wanted to be. She often took care of those around her and went out of her way to protect the women she felt aligned with. However, Mary was still bad to the bone, and sometimes I would question if Kelly didn’t also have a mean streak in her.

It’s Freaky Friday with a bit of Bette Midler

While comparing the Sanderson sisters to their Real Housewives counterparts, I almost forgot that The Divine Miss M, Bette Midler herself, joked about wanting to be on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Now, what a perfect Hocus Pocus/Real Housewives crossover. In what we hope wasn’t an April Fool’s joke, Bette took to her X to ask, “Is it too late for me to become a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills? I’ve never watched it, but I am in the mood to talk some sh*t. And to get paid for it? A dream!” The franchise has had multiple actresses come and go, so why not Bette? The only reason I can see it not happening is that Bette is off filming Hocus Pocus 3, which no fan would be opposed to.
