Tamra Judge Apologizes for Speaking ‘Too Soon’ About ‘Spectrum’ Reveal

Tamra Judge recently caught a lot of heat for saying she was on the spectrum. The Real Housewives of Orange County star shared revelations from her first therapy session on her podcast.

However, listeners questioned how Tamra could receive a diagnosis after just one session. Moreover, it seemed that Tamra used her diagnosis to rationalize her lack of empathy. Understandably, the public wasn’t happy with the picture Tamra painted of those on the spectrum.

She tweeted out an apology and clarified her remarks. Allegedly, her therapist simply told her she had symptoms compatible with people on the spectrum. Beyond the tweet, Tamra decided to address things on air.

Tamra Judge explains her comments on empathy

On Two Ts In A Pod, Tamra followed up on her previous statements. “I feel really horrible,” she said. “I feel beat down; I think people have to understand, I spoke about it literally 15 minutes from a two-hour therapy session. And I realize now that I spoke too soon. I shouldn’t have shared what my therapist said.”

Tamra reiterated, “I just feel horrible.” She also explained that, in the moment, it felt like she was simply speaking to Teddi. “I didn’t intend to share it with anybody at that moment. I hadn’t even told [my family].” Tamra further expressed her “horrible” feeling and clarified that she “wasn’t trying to insult or minimize or get sympathy or any of that.”

She continued, “I apologize. And, you know, the part that I think people are confused at … is people with autism don’t have empathy. That’s not what I was saying. I was questioning my own empathy with my therapist because I have heard people say to me, ‘You don’t have empathy.’” As such, she asked her therapist about empathy in general.

“There was a lot of information that I had processing in my head,” she continued. Tamra acknowledged that she shouldn’t have said anything. “I’m not going to say anything anymore. My doctor suggested that I just take a break from social media.” Good plan. Tamra apologized one more time “from the bottom of [her] heart.” She promised to “learn from this.”

Real Housewives of Orange County Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
