Why Heather Dubrow Isn’t Having Her Best RHOC Season

I’d argue that Heather Dubrow is one of the most liked Real Housewives of Orange County stars. The actress is articulate, educated, opinionated, and a pillar of the community. She has taught fans that you can express your emotions in a calm and collected way and be true to your friends without sacrificing her morals. However, Season 18 highlights the flaws that Heather has to contend with. And I just don’t think she is having her best season. So, will the real Heather Dubrow please stand up?

Some feel Heather Dubrow’s ego is getting carried away

So Heather is usually a safe bet. But this season, she has been falling short for a few viewers. She’s made a lot of things about herself and turned simple issues from a mountain into a molehill. The best example of this is Heather’s indifference to Emily Simpson’s feelings. Now, I don’t think Heather went out of her way to isolate Emily at her charity fashion show. But the lawyer was left distraught. Emily confessed, “I actually had a little moment when I went into the bathroom, and I actually cried a little bit because I felt like I was singled out. I felt like I was the girl who couldn’t fit into the pants that everyone else had on. It really killed me.”

Fancy Pants quipped, “That’s not my fault!” after Emily accused her of seeing her as a big girl.  Heather later added, “That’s not fair. I have news for you: the dress was tight on Emily, but it wasn’t too big. I’ve apologized, but you just want to keep coming after me.”

Viewers might find Heather Dubrow’s etiquette antiquated

Heather has all these rules when dealing with people, and it’s really starting to annoy the cast since they can’t see the “real” Heather. This trait has been proven a lot during Season 18, thanks to Katie Ginella. The two have not hit it off, but when Katie tried to talk it out with the champagne lover, she was shut down. Heather has a knack for keeping conversations at arm’s length until she has had time to digest the information. Only then will Heather return to tackle the subject in a calm demeanor. She never lets the camera catch her with her feathers out of sorts.

It’s no wonder that some of Heather’s cast members feel she would never help them or genuinely care about their lives. We also saw Heather reprimand her husband when he didn’t react a certain way in front of the cameras. I’ve always been a Heather fan, but this season is just giving me mean-girl vibes. I think Heather needs to be more receptive to letting people in and having them see her uncontrolled side as well. It’s okay not to be perfect all the time, but I’m not sure Heather knows that.

Heather Dubrow does a lot of good on RHOC

Even though Heather is having arguably one of her worst seasons ever, the woman does a lot of good. I’d be amiss if I only mentioned her bad moments. I loved how Heather has shown what it is to be a loving and supportive parent. Singlehandedly, Heather has brought awareness to the LGBTQ community by using her Real Housewives of Orange County platform. Heather also made sure to encourage her friends to go with her to get their yearly mammograms. Heather is all about raising awareness, and that is admirable.

So Heather’s bad season can be turned around. I think she needs to be a bit more honest with the women around her and take her own advice. If one of her friends had upset her, like when no one asked about her appointment, she should have called them. Instead, she stewed and blew up during a nice dinner. Heather, we are all rooting for you! And remember, it’s okay not to always be Fancy Pants.
