Dancing with the Stars Season 33 has stood out for several reasons, one of which is its showmances. The initial showmance that initially had viewers hooked was between Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko. Brooks and Nader had a lot of chemistry from the start, which quickly caught the attention of fans. Unfortunately, Brooks and Gleb were eliminated during Week 4, following their salsa during Dedication Night.
On the other hand, a showmance that caught viewers by surprise was Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber. Following her devastating break-up on The Bachelorette, Jenn brought her all to the ballroom. She developed a strong friendship with her partner Sasha, which now seems to have become something more. Jenn and Sasha haven’t confirmed having any romantic interest in each other but all the signs seem to point to it.
While every DWTS showmance is entertaining, Jenn and Sasha have been more nonchalant about it than Brooks and Gleb. As a result, their showmance has added more to the season.
Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko’s chemistry felt forced on Dancing with the Stars Season 33
Brooks and Gleb began sparking dating rumors during Week 1. The pair performed a tango to Piece of Me by Britney Spears, which scored an 18 from the judges. While Brooks did a good job, she received criticism for her mistakes regarding timing and footwork. The choreography was good but it seemed like Gleb went overboard to make the audience feel strong chemistry between him and Brooks during the dance. Their steamy night one tango caused viewers to start believing that Brooks and Gleb might be more than just dance partners.
After their tango, Brooks and Gleb began to feed into the relationship rumors. During one intro package, Brooks even admitted to the chemistry between her and Gleb. The pair performed a rumba for Soul Train Night during Week 3, which is known to be one of the more intimate ballroom dance styles. Before Brooks and Gleb even took the stage, their dance was teased as being passionate and steamy. At this point, the chemistry between them began to feel forced.
The relationship rumors were caused by the pair’s actions outside the studio as well. Brooks and Gleb got tattoos together and even shared a kiss in public. This was hardly a surprise after they touched tongues during their performance on Hair Metal Night. While there might be a genuine connection between Brooks and Gleb, the way they went about it made it feel compelled.
Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber’s relationship took viewers by surprise on Dancing with the Stars Season 33
Jenn was a last-minute addition to DWTS Season 33, following her time on The Bachelorette. During After The Final Rose, it was revealed that Jenn had gotten engaged to Devin Strader. In a shocking turn of events, Devin broke up with Jenn after filming ended leaving her heartbroken. The next day, it was announced that Jenn would be joining Season 33 with Sasha, who was originally set to be in the troupe.
On Night One, Jenn performed a heartfelt cha-cha-cha to Flowers by Miley Cyrus. Jenn received a 19 from the judges and earned the same score the following week. During Week 3, however, Jenn began to step up her game and was awarded a 31 out of 40. Her dancing wasn’t the only thing that changed, as this performance also showcased the strong chemistry between her and Sasha. This continued into Jenn’s second Week 3 performance, as well as her foxtrot during Dedication Night for Week 4.
Outside of the studio, Jenn and Sasha have only continued to fuel romance rumors. Jenn has posted several TikTok videos with Sasha, including McDonald’s runs as well as other restaurant outings. Sasha has called Jenn “babe” in some of the videos, causing speculation that the two may be more than just friends. This wasn’t something viewers expected but they quickly began rooting for the dancing duo to become something more.
Jenn and Sasha’s showmance is more authentic than Brook and Gleb’s was
When comparing the two showmances of the season, there are some differences. To begin, Brooks and Gleb tried way harder to get into one another than Jenn and Sasha. However, this made their relationship seem not genuine. Jenn and Sasha, on the other hand, didn’t try hard at all. Instead, the rumors of their relationship began due to their quickly budding friendship and natural chemistry on stage.
In terms of dancing, some of Brooks’ moves also crossed the line a little. All of Brooks and Gleb’s dances tried to be steamy, which didn’t help them when it came to scores. For instance, during Hair Metal Night, the pair licking each other during the performance went way too far. This didn’t add anything to the dance and just continued to make things between them feel forced. Jenn and Sasha haven’t done anything along these lines, as everything between them feels natural rather than forced.
While there’s no question that Brooks and Gleb have chemistry, Jenn and Sasha’s showmance wins in our book. No one wants to have a relationship shoved down their throats as the show did with Brooks and Gleb. Jenn and Sasha are unpredictable, which makes them much more fun to root for.
