All her favorite things. Lydia McLaughlin honored her late mother, Judy Stirling, by incorporating some of the things she loved into a celebration of life ceremony. The Real Housewives of Orange County alum held the event over the weekend. Glitter and fairy dust were included of course.
On October 9, Lydia shared the heartbreaking news that she had lost her beloved mother. RHOC fans will recall Judy’s quirky zest for life as she appeared alongside her daughter for Season 8.
Lydia McLaughlin incorporated “glitter” into the celebration
Lydia enlisted the help of party planner Michelle [Yang] to organize the event. The vibe was positive and whimsical. The Nobleman executive editor shared some special moments from the October 20 event on social media.
“We are in full set-up mode for my mom’s celebration of life and it is going to do her life honor because we have brought in the big guns with Michelle [Yang] party planning. Let’s go,” Lydia wrote on Instagram Stories. “We have glitter and balloon arches. We have a stage with a projector. We’re going to have coffee and crepes and everything she loves to honor her.”
Guests were greeted by animators dressed as angels. Glitter and streamers were released in time to honor Judy.
The shock announcement of Judy’s passing had Lydia “heartbroken.” The RHOC alum reacted to losing her mother at age 76 with a touching social media post.
“Heartbroken but we know she’s dancing with Jesus. Fairdust, confetti bombs and crowns like heaven has never seen before,” she shared on October 9.
Lydia often wrote about her mother on social media. The mother-daughter duo were very close, and the former Bravolebrity’s words are indicative of that.
“I can’t put into words what my mom means to me,” Lydia wrote on Instagram last year. “She is the best mother, my best friend and whole world to my boys. She is a ball of joy and the definition of a free spirit. I love you @ocjudymom. You are a miracle and I want to be just like you when I grow up.”
