The poor Chrisley family just can’t catch a break! We just got done with the emotional rollercoaster of Julie Chrisley’s botched resentencing plan. Now, we’ve learned that Todd Chrisley has been fired from his job at the prison chapel. It’s a shame, but we’ve got all of the details on why he was no longer suited for the position.
Why Todd Chrisley got fired from his prison chapel job
As you know, Todd is currently serving a 12-year sentence for his role in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. So far, he’s spent most of his time complaining about his treatment. Earlier this year, he claimed that the prison had been denying him church services.
Fast forward a few months later, and he lands a job inside of the chapel. However, his lawyer told TMZ that they axed him for running his mouth too much.
According to Jay Surgent, the family lawyer who falsely predicted Julie would be home by next summer, Todd has been helping a chaplain arrange various church services. It was all going well until it wasn’t.
Allegedly, Todd had been working out of a small office that was right next to the prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program. He started getting too chatty with those inmates, and his attorney said the prison guards didn’t like that.
Although it’s unclear if Todd said something specific that raised a red flag, his lawyer theorized that the prison didn’t want Todd communicating with those inmates because they’re only in the facility part-time. Unlike Todd, they get to access the outside world and breathe fresh air every once in a while.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons doesn’t comment on specific inmates, so for now, we’ll just have to take Jay’s word for it. In the meantime, perhaps Todd can pick up a shift in the cafeteria or try his hand at making license plates to pass the time.
