Bronwyn Newport is making a fashionable splash with her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City debut. She came on as a friend of Lisa Barlow and wasted no time getting involved in the messy group dynamics. Aside from the petty drama amongst the ladies, Bronwyn also dived head-first into sharing aspects of her personal family life with the Bravo viewers.
One of the main storylines for Bronwyn on RHOSLC involves her daughter, Gwen, and her birth father. Bronwyn had her daughter at a young age and had no relationship with him or his family. He passed away and Gwen lived life without knowing anything about her biological dad’s side of the family. That is, until Lisa revealed to Bronwyn that she was friends with the family and Bronwyn was forced to confront the sticky situation head-on.
Bronwyn’s putting her daughter first
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bronwyn discussed what is was like to have to deal with these extremely personal family issues during her first season of reality TV. “This was a real moment for us,” Bronwyn said. “I was so grateful that [Gwen] was willing to share this. I think it will resonate with people who have different family dynamics.” She added that she hopes viewers are kind to her daughter’s openness and if they have any insults, send them to Bronywyn. “I am fiercely protective of the child involved,” she added. Now, that’s what a mama bear looks like.
Bronwyn also teased that fans will see more of the situation play out on RHOSLC this season. “It’s up and down for a little bit there and then it settles,” Bronwyn said. “I don’t know where it goes from here. I hope only places that are positive and happy for her.” She added that if Gwen and her biological father’s family do decide to pursue a relationship in the future, Bronwyn understands it’s probably best that she’s not involved. It’s amazing to see Bronwyn be such a supportive and protective mother through such an obviously tough situation.
