Successful podcast host Scheana Shay is giving some input after her former Vanderpump Rules co-star pulled the plug on her own project. Last week, Rachel Leviss announced that she would be stepping away from her Rachel Goes Rogue podcast.
The podcast ran since January 2024 and focused on Rachel’s last season on VPR. She also spoke about her journey to better mental health, as well as discussions on healthy relationships. Her publicist would be taking over as host.
Scheana Shay did not see the “longevity” of Rachel Goes Rogue
Despite falling out with Rachel in the aftermath of her affair with Tom Sandoval, Scheana did commend her former friend for keeping the podcast going for ten months.
“I’m surprised it took this long,” the Good As Gold singer told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast.
“Here’s the thing: I believe everyone should have a voice and be able to get their side of the story out and that was her way of doing it, so good for her,” Scheana said of Rachel using the podcast to share her perspective.
Arguably, Rachel’s focus on Vanderpump Rules would leave her out of fuel at some point. However, Scheana does acknowledge that her former co-star had relative success in a very difficult industry.
“I did not see longevity in this podcast when it started, and I was actually surprised that it went on for 60-something episodes. So good for her for being able to do it for that long,” Scheana shared. “It’s not easy. People think, ‘Oh, I’m gonna start a podcast,’ and it actually takes a lot of work.”
For her part, Scheana has been hosting her Scheananigans podcast for over six years. Yet she revealed that she still has nerves at times.
“And still, my heart races before every interview. I get nervous even [recording my solo episodes]. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting out of breath.’ It’s not easy,” Scheana said.
She advised, “For anyone who thinks, ‘I’m just gonna start a podcast,’ there’s a lot of work that goes into it if you want to make it successful and actually pay the bills with it.”
As for the retired beauty pageant contestant, she is leaving her podcast to live a “more balanced and healthier life.”
