Southern Charm Season 10 is so close I can taste it. Along with our favorite OGs, there will be some new faces. The trailer showed the group of charmers dealing with life’s changes. Shep Rose might have found himself the love of his life, and JT Thomas is declaring his love for Venita Aspen. But mixed in with the oldies is newcomer Molly O’Connell. Let’s get to know what this freshman is all about, shall we?
Who is Southern Charm’s new star Molly O’Connell?
Just like Salley Carson, Ms. Molly also has some roots in reality TV. Firstly, Molly has been close personal friends with the Southern Charm cast for quite some time. She has even been caught by cameras as a guest at numerous parties. One Instagram post showed her posing with Cameran Eubanks, Naomie Olindo, and Chelsea Meissner, so she goes way back. At the time, Molly wrote, “I’ll most likely be drunk in the background pretending to play the harp.” Already, I can tell she is quite the character. Molly’s Bravo bio states she is “a true Southern Belle who grew up in Charleston after being adopted at three days old by two high-profile attorneys.”
The press release adds, “Molly left the Holy City to pursue her career as a model and catapulted to success by appearing on America’s Next Top Model in 2010. Since then, she has appeared in many high-end fashion publications and walked the runways of couture fashion shows. She’s returned home to be closer to her family and friends, and her longtime entanglements with the men of the group lead her to wonder exactly how she fits in.” Molly has also been a charter guest on Below Deck, so she definitely understands the reality TV ropes.
What does Molly O’Connell do for a living?
Molly mainly works as a model. She was the runner-up in 2011 for Cycle 16 of America’s Next Top Model. Fans will recall she even let Tyra Banks cut her hair off directly before the finale. How she still didn’t win, I’ll never know. According to her IMDb Molly has also dabbled in acting. Along with her reality TV cameos, she has also worked on The Late Game. The movie comedy is about a new guy who knocks off the rust as he suits up to play in a late-night beer league hockey game. Molly played the main character’s ex.
Molly isn’t just a one-trick pony. It turns out she can model, act, and sing. She posted a rendition of Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn” to her Instagram. It seems like Molly is a jack of all trades. During the trailer, she shares more about her musical tastes and her love of horse racing. According to her social media posts, watching horse racing is like participating in a “Seal music video.” I’m not exactly sure what that means, but I’m sure fans will find out. Madison LeCroy joked, “I love Molly. She’s weird, but like, in a good way.”
Molly O’Connell will make waves in Southern Charm
The newest Southern Charm star is not about sitting on her laurels. She is seen playing the euphonium, which is in the family of brass instruments, dancing, and making friends wherever she goes. Actually, after a harder look, Molly gives Jennifer Lawrence vibes. I can see her volunteering as tribute during a bar night run. From what I can tell, Molly seems like a troublemaker, but in the most innocent of ways.
During the Bravo sneak peek, she tells Madison that she and Craig Conover used to “sext.” She quickly clarifies her motive, saying, “I mean, I’m not trying to steal him from Paige or anything … ” Could Molly be the new Kathryn Dennis? I wouldn’t mind as long as she shook up the group in a good way. With friends like Madison, I can’t help but wonder if Molly also likes to push the limits. Only time will tell if Molly will fit in with the wacky bunch of Bravolebs. But something tells me she can hold her own just fine.
