Welcome to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, Episode 8 recap. Last week, Justin and John still had issues after getting pulled into the women’s fight at Angie’s anniversary party, but Justin refused when John asked him to apologize to Lisa. Angie questioned Heather’s loyalty. Bronwyn invited Heather to her home to try to repair their relationship before the girls’ trip, but it went left. Keep reading to see exactly what went down in the RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 8: “The Desert and the Deserted.”
What happened on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, Episode 8?
In this week’s episode, Bronwyn and Todd host a couples’ weekend in Palm Springs, but Todd warns her ahead of time that he won’t put up with any bullsh*t. Bronwyn is hurt that Meredith and Lisa take Heather’s side in their fight, without listening to Bronwyn’s account of what happened. When Lisa decides to check in with Heather while they’re all in the hot tub, Bronwyn is annoyed. As the bickering escalates, Todd reminds Bronwyn that he won’t put up with this nonsense. Todd tells John that either Lisa stops the fighting or they have to go. Here are some of the highlights from RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 8.
Heather reports her fight with Bronwyn to Frick and Frack Meredith and Lisa
Meredith and Lisa are getting massages at a Park City resort. Heather meets up with them to spill the tea about her disastrous visit to Bronwyn’s house.
“This morning, Bronwyn invited me over to her house,” Heather says. “I assumed, it was because she wanted to make up … but, I was invited for her to tell me how I’m a sh*tty person.”
“She basically told me that she has this group trip planned,” she continues, “and she was gonna wait and see whether she was going to include me or not.”
Heather recalls that Bronwyn apologized for some things, but then asked, “Now, what would you like to apologize to me for?”
“It was weird,” Heather concludes. “We were going around in circles, not getting anywhere, so I grabbed my stuff, and I left.”
In addition to Heather’s issues with Bronwyn and Lisa’s issues with Justin and Whitney, Meredith has issues with Shawn, Angie’s husband. He accused Meredith of using her son Brooks “as a pawn to deflect from her own wrongdoings.” Wow. The kids are off limits, Shawn. Ask your wife about that.
They all agree that it’s not a good time for Heather to get on a PJ with Bronwyn. As Lisa considers flying commercial, Meredith comments, “A quick little jaunt to Palm Springs sounds more like it might be … a living Hell.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City ladies take a PJ to Palm Springs
Over at Bronwyn’s house, she and three of her six dogs are wearing matching pajamas. I’m not sure whether that’s cute or kind of weird. She’s on the phone with her hubby, Todd, who’s in Korea, and tells him Mary isn’t coming on the trip to Palm Springs. Typical. Why is she even on this show? All she does is fight with everyone anyway.
Todd will fly back just in time to jet off to Palm Springs. He warns Bronwyn, “I really don’t want to have a weekend of drama with these people … We’ll see, I guess.”
Meanwhile, over at Lisa and John’s, they’re packing for the trip. Lisa says that Justin “still owes me an apology.” Actually, Lisa is the one who started the fight when she got in his face and yelled, “How do you put up with her, Justin? Your wife is a liar.” Can production roll the tape, please?
Wow. The PJ Bronwyn rented is huge! “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard Bronwyn Air,” the socialite interviews in her best flight attendant voice. “Please make sure all of your luxury carry-on items are safely stowed, although I doubt some of the baggage you ladies are carrying will fit in the overhead compartment.” She also advises the ladies not to sit near anyone they’re “currently feuding with.”
The women are a house divided
In Palm Springs, Bronwyn’s talking about how awkward it was on the PJ. “I’m incredibly hurt by my conversation with Lisa and Meredith from the plane,” she interviews. “I don’t know why they weren’t open to hearing my side of [the fight with Heather] … If you agree with Heather that I’m two-faced and bitchy and Todd’s too stupid to realize I’m a gold-digger, why the f*ck are you here?”
The house the group is staying in goes for $20,000 a night. Wow. It had better be really nice … and it is. Everyone declares it beautiful, except for Meredith’s husband Seth, who only wants a bathtub for his wife. But there are no tubs in the house. Really? You’d think they’d have at least one. That might be a problem.
Bronwyn realizes that Lisa is avoiding her, which is not okay since she’s the hostess and paying for this trip.
Whitney knows how “incredibly awkward” it is with everybody so divided (sounds familiar), but she knows they need to play nice for their hosts’ sake. She confides in Bronwyn that John wants Justin to apologize to Lisa, but they don’t think he owes her an apology. “She should apologize to my husband,” Whitney says.
Bronwyn says the obvious in a confessional: “If Lisa were to give Justin an apology, first she’d have to admit she was wrong.” Yeah, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
Lisa decides to call Heather and check in from Palm Springs on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
All the ladies are in the hot tub, while the men are in the pool. Angie brings out some Vida Tequila shots to get the party started. Lisa brings up Heather and they all wish she were here. Whitney says Bronwyn invited her over to work things out, but it didn’t go well.
Lisa says, “That’s not the story I heard.” So Lisa decides to get Heather on the phone and see what she has to say.
“Look, I do miss Heather,” Angie interviews, “but I’m not dumb enough to pick up the phone and call her on a trip that Bronwyn is hostessing.” Excellent point, Angie.
“It’s a double standard,” Angie continues. “If you had called Lisa’s mortal enemy, you’d be in the pool right now.”
When Bronwyn hears them talking to Heather, she rushes over to the hot tub. “Why are we doing this right now?” she asks. Bronwyn’s furious.
“Feels a little weird that I went to the bathroom, and you guys called Heather,” she says. “I invited Heather with the intention … to fix it with her so that Heather could come [on the trip]. It feels a little shady to call her and be all, ‘We miss you!’”
Bronwyn’s offended that everyone’s taking Heather’s side. She claims that she’s a loyal friend to Lisa and would never just jump to someone’s defense without hearing both sides.
“I did recently go on a hike where Lisa was poorly talked about, and I defended her,” she adds. “So you’d think if I wasn’t owed loyalty, I’d probably have bought it by now with this trip I’m taking her on.”
The girls’ fight escalates and Todd is annoyed
As the bickering gets louder, the men start to take note. While John, Seth, and Justin know better than to get involved in the “women’s business,” this is new to Todd, and he’s not okay with it.
“This is really stupid,” he observes. “I don’t like it.”
Bronwyn explains that it’s okay to listen to Heather’s feelings, but they need to consider her feelings too. She wants to be friends with Heather. But she thinks they’re holding her to a higher standard than they are Heather.
In typical Lisa fashion, she tells Meredith and Angie, “This is just amazing. I didn’t do anything wrong, so I don’t feel even a little bit bad … [They’ll] work it out, and everyone can apologize to me.”
Being the good little soldier she is, Whitney follows Bronwyn into the house, “Just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
Bronwyn says, “I just need a little break from that insanity.”
She says that Lisa needs to admit that Heather was wrong and it was wrong for her and Meredith to call Heather to stir things up again. She feels they didn’t defend her character when Heather told them what happened.
Though she’s concerned about Bronwyn, Whitney doesn’t know who’s in the wrong, so she doesn’t want to get in the middle. But she can see that Bronwyn’s hurt that Lisa’s defending Heather. She thinks Lisa should stay out of it, and let Heather and Bronwyn work things out.
“Here’s the problem,” Bronwyn tells Whitney. “Not only is Lisa blindly loyal to Heather … but Lisa is a big part of some stuff that’s going on with my family right now, she knows things are hard for me, she has not checked in on me.”
Todd lays down the law with a machete, not a Nerf gun
When Todd comes to check on his wife, Whitney excuses herself. “I told you I wasn’t going to deal with this with these people,” he says. “Either I can leave, or they can leave.”
“I’ll just tell John and Lisa they can leave,” he decides. “We’ll give them some money, get ‘em a car, and they can leave.”
“Maybe I should tell them, cause I’m nicer than you,” she says tearfully.
“Todd can be an asshole,” she interviews. “But in this case, he’s kind of my knight-in-shining asshole … He’s riding into battle for me. I appreciate Todd coming to my rescue, but I would like him to do it with a Nerf gun, not a machete.”
“I’m not sitting through this all weekend,” he insists. “This is bullsh*t.” Todd reminds me of my husband. He wouldn’t put up with the BS either.
Todd returns outside, where John’s sitting in a deck chair. “All right, dude,” he says. “This is out of control … I told Bronwyn, I wasn’t coming to spend the weekend sitting through a bunch of arguments … Lisa’s gotta stop, or you guys gotta go.”
John’s stunned, but he says he’ll go talk to his wife. I don’t see her backing down. Buh-bye, John and Lisa!
