JoJo Siwa is a quintessential Dance Moms girl. And while she can appreciate the reboot Dance Moms: A New Era, there are some aspects of the show the alum isn’t entirely happy with.
And that makes sense. After all, as part of the original show, it’s only natural that JoJo can’t help but compare her time on Dance Moms with the reboot. On the whole, though, she did appreciate the show; especially its homage to the original series.
JoJo Siwa is sharing a little vague shade on the Dance Moms reboot
At the Rhode Island Comic Con, JoJo spoke with PEOPLE’s Dory Jackson and shared a little bit about her problems with the new Hulu show, aside from feeling sick to her stomach about them replacing Abby Lee Miller.
“I appreciate that the Dance Moms: A New Era gave nods to the original Dance Moms and Abby (Lee Miller),” she said. “I appreciated that they didn’t play dumb, essentially thinking that Dance Moms wasn’t a thing before them,”
And while she thought the moms and kids “were cool,” JoJo admitted that there were aspects of the show that didn’t feel right to her. She tried not to be “too shady” with her critique of the series.
“Apparently, I’m going to be shady,” she joked. “I’m very territorial of Dance Moms, and I know Dance Moms: A New Era kind of screwed over some people, and I know that wasn’t appreciated. I don’t think that’s very cool.”
She didn’t specify who was impacted, so while she dropped some shade, she kept it vague.
As for JoJo, she had her share of bad experiences on the original show, but there was some good. She mentioned that Abby taught her so much and not just about dance. Even when she was yelling at her, JoJo admits she relished it, even thrived on it. She also credits Abby with teaching her good table manners.
“That girl and her table manners,” JoJo recalled about Abby. “I’m not kidding. I’ve dated a couple of girls where I’ve told them, you need to go to Abby Lee’s table manners school.”
Dance Moms: A New Era is streaming on Hulu.
