Janelle Brown isn’t usually an open book regarding the inner workings of the Brown family. But the Sister Wives star is tired of holding her tongue and finally speaking out. She recently opened up about Meri Brown’s decision to disconnect from the large polygamous family.
Meri Brown was the black sheep of the family
While chatting on the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast, Janelle revealed that Meri started to pull away from the family. The mother of one always seemed to have a bond with Robyn Brown, but it hasn’t lasted since the divorce. Janelle pointed out the connection, “I mean, she and Robyn were always pretty close.” But according to the mother of six, everything changed when Kody and Meri’s child, Leon Brown, moved out to attend college. Sister Wives fans will recall Meri also found herself embroiled in a catfishing scandal that took a toll on her marriage.
Janelle added, “I do think when Leon left the house, and she was an empty nester before we were, she started to develop a lot more interests outside of the family. Because yeah, she had time.” Janelle and Meri were never the closest of sister wives as they had a rough start since the beginning. Janelle was once married to Meri’s brother. So fans were never sure if there was awkward tension. Meri revealed in the family book that she was often “aggressive” toward Janelle.
Janelle Brown understands Meri Brown’s plight
But Janelle didn’t bring up their past and only shared, “But I know she and Robyn were always pretty close to a lot of things.” But in Janelle’s opinion, something changed as she ended her interview saying, “So I don’t know if she was separate. I mean, she and Kody had been estranged for many, many years.”
