Host Nick Lachey often refers to Love Is Blind as a social experiment. The show tests if a person can fall in love without physical attraction. The couples meet, date, and get engaged behind a wall without ever seeing each other. The purpose of the show may seem far-fetched but the show has produced 11 married couples thus far.

Fans of popular reality shows will tell you that the most exciting part of the series is the moment when a new couple sees each other for the first time, This meeting, often referred to as the “first reveal,” has produced some of the most iconic moments in the show’s history. Most couples are delighted with their fiance’s appearance. However, a few couples’ awkward first exchanges proves that physical and emotional chemistry don’t always match.

Let’s take a look at some of the reveals that made us believe Love isn’t blind.

Here are the most awkward reveals in Love Is Blind history…

**FOR THIS LIST, WE WILL ONLY BE CONSIDERING LOVE IS BLIND: US**

Hannah and Nick – Love Is Blind, Season 7

Hannah Jiles had certain expectations about what her fiance Nick Dorka would look like. The two formed a connection sight unseen but Hannah couldn’t help but create a mental image of the man behind the wall. She expected him to be big and tall since he briefly played professional football. Unfortunately for Nick, he didn’t measure up to Hannah’s expectations. She couldn’t hide her disappointment during the reveal and even admitted she was surprised by his appearance in a confessional.

“In the pods, he described himself as a football player, like, bigger, medium build, 5’11,” she told producers. “What he said, I don’t think was really truthful.”

Nick, on the other hand, seemed smitten with his fiance, which made the situation even more awkward. At the reunion, he admitted that he told some of the guys he was “underwhelmed” by Hannah’s appearance at first, but he never voiced that to her or producers.

Irina and Zach – Love Is Blind, Season 4

Irina Solomonova and Zack Goytowski may take the cake for the most awkward Love Is Blind reveal. It was clear Irina was not attracted to her fiance and wanted to get the hell out of there. She was creeped out by his intense eye contact and even compared him to a cartoon character. Ouch. At one point, Zach leaned in for a kiss and Irina turned her head, so he had to kiss her cheek instead. It was brutal.

“Just a hug for now…But thank you,” she told her fiance after rejecting the kiss.

These two (obviously) didn’t make it down the aisle. They broke up in Mexico and Zach rebounded with his other pod connection, Bliss Poureetezadi. The two said “yes” at the altar and are now expecting a baby, so it all worked out in the end.

Chelsea and Jimmy – Love Is Blind, Season 6

Jimmy Presnell’s disappointment wasn’t quite as obvious as Irina and Hannah’s but it was clear he was caught off guard by his fiance’s appearance. Fans couldn’t help but clock his side-eye while embracing his future wife. In a confessional, he admitted he felt “lied to” by Chelsea Blackwell

“She definitely lied to me [about] what she looked like,” he said. “Chelsea told me she looked like Megan Fox. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. I’m very attracted to her. I can work with that.” Yikes.

His awkwardness at the reveal led fans to believe he was not interested in his new partner. In Mexico, the pair’s connection was put to the test and unfortunately, they crumbled under the pressure. They broke up before the wedding.

Brittany and Leo – Love Is Blind, Season 7

Leo Braudy and Brittany Wisniewski‘s first reveal was extremely awkward. Brittany was sure Leo was the man for her in the pods but at the reveal, she acted like he was a creep hitting on her in a bar. She seemed super uncomfortable, describing her first moments with her fiance as “one of the most awkward moments of her life.” Ouch. She explained her odd behavior at the reunion, telling fans her reaction had nothing to do with Leo.

“I wasn’t uncomfortable with him,” she said. “I know there’s a lot of talk about him kissing me and touching me, but he was the most comforting part of that moment. You’re pretty used to being on cameras at that point, but it’s like, you know there’s all eyes on you. So, I was really leaning into him for comfort.”

“Honestly, I wished he kissed me more to shut me up because I was filling the blank spaces with stupid words,” she joked.

Leo’s “comforting” presence wasn’t enough to make the relationship last. They broke off the engagement shortly after.
