Since 2010, TLC’s hit show Sister Wives has been a staple on the network. Viewers have come to know Kody Brown and his four wives after watching them through multiple life milestones. The series initially showed a jovial polygamous family navigating the roads to living a more accessible life. However, as the years went on, Kody started to lose sight of his dream, pushing Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown away. The seasons have fallen behind on filming, and now fans are bored. So, could Sister Wives be heading for its last chapter?
Where did the Sister Wives rumor originate?
Some Sister Wives viewers started to freak out after a viral Facebook post went live noting the show’s cancellation. The post appeared on several Sister Wives groups and seemed genuine. The image was convincing as it showed the network’s featured photo with a big red “Cancelled” stamp over it. The blurb noted that the once-popular series would be coming to an end after Season 19. However, there has been no official word from the network. And we’ve had false alarms before.
But it is hard to deny that Season 19 is only six episodes in, and fans are bored out of their skulls. TLC has fallen behind with filming for the past two seasons, with the newest season being taped in 2022. Loyal viewers have been getting real-life updates on the cast’s social media and feel that this is all old information. TLC has yet to put out an official statement regarding the future of their show, but there have been some Easter eggs hinting at the show’s end.
The Sister Wives theme no longer exists
At the start of Season 1, Kody noted, “Love should be multiplied, not divided.” But the father of 18 is singing a very different tune. Viewers started watching the series when the family all lived under the same roof in Lehi, Utah. Their lifestyle was foreign to most viewers, and the premise was interesting. However, fast forward to the present day, and fans are now watching Kody live a monogamous marriage with his fourth and favorite wife. The family is split as Janelle has moved to North Carolina and Meri and Christine to Utah. It seems complicated to film a family series when they are no longer together.
Christine has also moved on. Once Kody’s third wife, she was now moved on to a new marriage with David Woolley. It also doesn’t help that the Sister Wives showcases his disgruntled relationship with many of his older children. Kody took his COVID-19 rules too far and alienated his offspring, causing fights among fights. As a viewer, it’s been hard to watch the children become upset, and Kody’s constant spiraling has grown old. Frankly, the fans have been left confused by the plot of the once-popular franchise.
Fans of Sister Wives are voicing their concerns
TLC is very aware that fans are disappointed with the last few seasons of Sister Wives. And viewers are not holding back by how disheartened they are. For instance, almost no one is interested in watching Robyn Brown cry for the millionth time about being unable to sit on a porch with her sister wives through her twilight years. I believe there is a chance that the Sister Wives, as we know, could be coming to an end. But I think TLC is more than happy to sort a spin-off of some sort. Fans have noted they would be more than happy to see Janelle and Christine flourish in their lives. Janelle recently announced she was starting her own farm, too. So the material is there!
Even Meri, Kody’s first wife, noted that the show would eventually have to come to an end. While on The Sarah Frasher Show, Meri noted, “Is it on the downhill? I mean, we have been going for so long. It is not something that is going to go forever. It is just not. No show ever goes forever. But you cannot predict it either. I do not think that we ever would have thought that we would have gone this long, and we have. People like the drama.”
Sister Wives remains in limbo as fans are learning not to believe everything they read online.
