The moment I watched Erin Lichy enter the Bravo arena, I knew she was bada**. The Real Housewives of New York star voices her opinion, runs her family life, and works hard for her money. The only Achilles heel I’ve found is her relationship with Abe Lichy. The two are in love, but at times, their marriage seems like hard work. As a fan, I am worried about her future.
Erin Lichy was shocked at Abe Lichy’s betrayal
Real Housewives of New York fans were stunned to learn on a recent episode that Abe had sold the couple’s bitcoin without asking his wife. Erin has been dealing with a lot on her plate, including a sick mother and a friendship circle that is currently open-ended. So, I can’t imagine what it must have felt like for Erin to learn of the deceit.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Erin played a game called “Work the Polls.” Host Andy Cohen asked the audience, “After hearing their conversation tonight, what do you think? Abe selling off his shared Bitcoin: ultimate betrayal or his reasons were valid?” Naturally like any good wife, Erin is going to defend her husband publicly. Erin replied, “There were other things that Abe had just like made decisions and I’m like … we’re partners and we have to talk about things, and I think that’s what got to me. She continued, “I mean, he was trying to do the right thing and not stress me out and he knew that I was going through a lot, but ultimately like I’d rather have the communication.”
Abe Lichy hints at ‘deeper issues” with Erin Lichy
Abe and Erin have been married since 2012 but Real Housewives of New York fans are learning it hasn’t been a walk in the park. Season 15 has shown Abe and Erin at quite the fork in the road. Abe recently talked with Page Six about their marital woes, and the lawyer gave some honest insight. Abe shared “So, it was representative of kind of a larger, deeper issue. I’ll tell you guys what it was because it’s not that nefarious. But, it was real.” The lawyer continued, “We had a handbag business, which I think they show a clip of on the show.”
“This was something that I left my white shoe law firm to start with Erin, and we put all our money into it, self-funded it, and it got to the point where we weren’t really making any money from it.” Abe paused for dramatic effect, finally saying,” So we lost all our cash, and it was a very expensive MBA. I learned a lot.” Abe shared that the stress kept piling up, finally sharing, “I started my own law firm, but it took several years to start making real money again, so we had more kids, more bills, and still the debt. And it was just a bunch of small things that, at a certain point, I just stopped telling her about it because I didn’t want to add pressure to her.”

According to Abe, the couple’s marriage is “really at the point where we’re just able to have an open, honest relationship from that.” But as an eagle-eyed viewer myself, some conversations along the way have bugged me. During Season 14, while on a double date with Jessel Taank and her husband, the ladies brought up the sexual drought. Abe immediately piped up, saying “I would f*ck other women. I’m just saying.” If this wasn’t a bright red flag I don’t know what is.
There was also that time that Abe openly flirted with Brynn Whitfield at his anniversary party—honestly, the audacity. “Abe, the babe,” seems to be constantly sticking his foot in it, and at some point, it is no longer a coincidence but a pattern. As a viewer, I find it hard to root for Abe, and it often feels like he undermines his wife. Even though the father was in the dog house for months, fans worry that reality TV could break the couple. Only time will tell if their bond is strong enough.
Erin and Abe recently announced she is pregnant with their fourth child. Let’s hope Abe has at least learned his lesson about not lying to his wife because that will never end well.
