Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Jr. Must Return to Court After Allegedly Failing To Provide Treatment Plan Proof

Mary Cosby has been giving fans her best performance yet throughout Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Her unique brand of shade and one-liners has been at the forefront, and she’s also thrown in some uncharacteristic light-heartedness. However, we’ve also gotten a deeper glimpse into one of her personal struggles whenever her son Robert Cosby Jr. appears on screen.

Robert, 21, has had multiple run-ins with the law amid his battle with substances. As a result of a DUI two years ago, he was ordered to enter inpatient rehab as part of a treatment plan. His case is still ongoing, and Robert recently informed the court that he completed his rehab stay.

Unfortunately, court documents state that he failed to prove it, so he has to return to court.

Robert’s current ordeal stems from a 2022 DUI. During his arrest, he didn’t have a license and disobeyed traffic laws. He was also seen throwing a case of beer into a dumpster and admitted to using Xanax, OxyContin, and marijuana in the recent past. He pleaded guilty to the DUI and the other charges were dropped.

Robert tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and THC in May 2024, according to court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun.

Between May and a court date on July 8, Robert completed a court-ordered 10-day detox and Victim Impact panel course. He had a scheduled hearing on August 15, but his attorney informed the court that Robert could not attend because he entered a 16-week rehab program in California called Prime For Life.

Robert’s now back in Utah and attended a scheduled hearing in Murray Justice Court on November 21. Minutes from the hearing read, “Defendant states he completed in-patient treatment.”

However, the minutes also reveal that he failed to prove that he finished. The doc continued, “Prosecutor filed order to show cause based on failing to complete Prime For Life, 16-week Substance Abuse Treatment with random testing or 30 days home confinement.” Robert will now need to appear in court again in January.

As we’re seeing on RHOSLC right now, Robert and his “wife” Alexiana Cosby showed concerning behavior while living in Mary’s home at the time Season 5 filmed. Mary was extremely worried about where Robert’s life was heading.

More recently, Mary gave an update on Robert. She shared, “He’s steady, which I think is good.”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
