Trigger Warning: This article contains discussions of domestic violence.
James Kennedy has always been a polarizing character on Vanderpump Rules. Before he gave up drinking and started leading a sober life, he found himself in the middle of a lot of drama. He not only spat on Kristen Doute’s door, but he also fat-shamed Katie Maloney during a shift at SUR. This week, news broke that James had been arrested for suspected domestic violence. James has been dating Ally Lewber since January 2022. Here is what his lawyers are saying.
James Kennedy’s lawyers speak out
James’ council spoke with People about his arrest after Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party. The lawyer stated, “We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James.”
The Bravo star’s legal team added, “We understand that there were no injuries, and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.” The spokesperson confirmed that “The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Kennedy’s arrest … James was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Burbank City Attorney’s office.”
According to TMZ, James was acting odd before the arrest. A source shared, “He was acting so erratic, running back and forth to the bar and body-checking people along the way. He appeared inebriated. Spent the evening mostly alone but, when he did speak to people, he appeared irritated and rude.”
After the alleged incident, James’ girlfriend, Ally, was spotted out on December 11 attending a New Year’s Eve with Windsor Celebration event. Sources noted that Ally was photographed smiling and getting a tattoo during the event.
