Survivor 47 Finale: Who Will Win, and Who Has No Shot?

It’s hard to believe that Survivor 47 is almost over. From the beginning, this season has been a wild ride with tons of twists and turns. Survivor 47 featured one of the most entertaining casts of the New Era. While many front-runners emerged in the first few episodes, it’s safe to say that no one saw this final four coming.

Rachel LaMont had a rocky start to the game but has since become a huge power player. Sam Phalen, on the other hand, was in a strong position at the beginning of the season. However, after losing his number one ally Sierra Wright, he found himself on the bottom during the merge. Teeny Chirichillo struggled with constantly being on the wrong side of votes but made it to the end due to her strong social game. Sue Smey is the biggest surprise of the final four and shocked everyone with her idol play during the final five.

Of these final four players, two have a great chance at winning. The other two seem to have lower chances, although you never know what can happen on Survivor!

Rachel LaMont has a good chance of winning Survivor 47

Rachel was initially in the middle of the pack on the Gata tribe. After entering the merge, she narrowly escaped elimination when she received an advantage from Sol Yi. Rachel was also blindsided numerous times by players like Andy Rueda

Despite all these obstacles, Rachel had a lot of luck in the game as well. She found an immunity idol after receiving a clue in her French fries at the auction. She also won a block-a-vote advantage after winning a game on a journey. Rachel also strategically played her shot in the dark and was the only player this season to do so. She’s also snagged the win in three individual immunity challenges.

Rachel has a good chance of winning, especially since the jury seems to really respect her. The only thing I could see hurting Rachel is the fact that a lot of her game has been centered around luck. Rachel’s received advantages by chance but hasn’t played the strongest strategic or social game. Nonetheless, Rachel is a popular player this season who could easily win.

Sam Phalen could also win Survivor 47

Sam was the leader of the Gata tribe before the merge. He was in a great position in his original tribe where everyone wanted to work with him. After the merge, however, things went south for Sam. He nearly became the first member of the jury but survived after the tribe turned on Sierra instead of him.

Despite the odds being against him, Sam has made it to the final four. Sam has played a more strategic game than Rachel, as he was behind major moves like Operation Italy. While Sam hasn’t won immunity, he has won three reward challenges. He’s also played a decent social game and has a lot of friends on the jury who will probably vote for him if he makes the final three.

Sam has been overshadowed by Rachel in the last few episodes, but his chances of winning are just as high as her own. He’s played a well-rounded game and could make a great pitch to the jury at the Final Tribal Council.

Teeny Chirichillo probably won’t win Survivor 47

At the start of Survivor 47, Teeny had a lot of potential. She was the most prominent player on the Lavo tribe and played a great social game. Unfortunately, since her time at Lavo, Teeny has lost allies left and right. In every episode, Teeny has scrambled to find a new alliance and has consistently been forced to blindside her friends. Teeny hasn’t taken the lead on any votes and hasn’t excelled at challenges either.

While a good social game is important on Survivor, it isn’t enough to secure the win. This was a key component in Kenzie Petty winning Survivor 46, however, she was usually on the right side of votes, unlike Teeny. As of right now, it’s unlikely that anyone on the jury would vote for Teeny besides possibly Sol.

Sue Smey doesn’t have a good chance of winning Survivor 47 either

Another player with a low chance of winning this season is Sue. Surprisingly, Sue is the last member standing of the Tuku tribe, which is something almost no one saw coming. Sue didn’t play a bad game by any means, but she didn’t play a great one either. Once Sue lost her allies, Gabe Ortis and Caroline Vidmar, she struggled to find footing in the game. She teamed up with Rachel at the last minute, which helped her to advance to the final four.

One of Sue’s biggest moves this season was her idol play. Almost no one knew that Sue had an idol, which made the move a shock to the jury. Sue also won an immunity challenge early on, which added to her resumé as well. Overall, however, Sue’s strategic and social games weren’t very strong. The only members of the jury I can see voting for her are Gabe and Caroline.

Survivor 47 concludes on Wednesday December 18, at 8/7c on CBS.
