Karen Huger Guilty in DUI Trial; Could Face Prison Time

Karen Huger of The Real Housewives of Potomac has been found guilty for her DUI crash. Even though the Bravo star tried to remain tight-lipped about her trial, the evidence stacked against her was far too much. The newest season is showing Karen remaining positive that she would be vindicated. But that wasn’t how the cookie crumbled for the star. Here’s what we know so far about Karen’s conviction.

Karen Huger could face prison time after her trial ended in a guilty verdict

TV Deets shared information about Karen’s guilty verdict as the news broke. According to the outlet, the jury deliberated for over five hours after just a two-day trial. It was reported that the “jury was reportedly deadlocked before being sent back to deliver a verdict.” The verdict came in at 9:48 p.m. on December 18.

The prosecution initially sought 60 days in jail, but Karen chose to fight. Karen’s lawyers had opted for a jury trial in hopes of receiving no jail time for the Grande Dame. Now, she faces up to two years behind bars.

Karen was found guilty for five out of six charges stemming from the March car crash, including the lead charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

Along with the DUI, Karen was also found guilty of negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of an address change. She was acquitted of reckless driving.

The state called multiple witnesses, including the police and EMT on the scene. The prosecution also showed body camera footage to support their argument. The video showed Karen slurring her words and cursing at the arresting officers. Another video also showed Karen telling the officer she “hated” them for arresting her.

Karen does have the option to appeal.
