The two-hour Survivor 47 finale aired tonight on CBS. One lucky castaway impressed the jury and left with the coveted title of Sole Survivor and a million dollars. Surviving 26 days on an island with limited food, water, and clothing is no easy feat. The final three should all be proud of the game they played. Each finalist played a unique game and carved out a spot for themselves in the Survivor history book.

What happened on Survivor 47, Episode 14?
Tonight, one castaway was rewarded with a million dollars after 26 long, challenging days in Fiji. The episode kicked off with the final Immunity Challenge of the season. Rachel won immunity and chose to take Sue with her to the finale. Sam and Teeny fought for their spot in a fire-making competition. It was close but Sam pulled ahead, securing his spot in the finale. Teeny became the final member of the jury. The final three faced the jury to answer some hard-hitting questions. In the end, Rachel prevailed and won the title of Sole Survivor with a 7-1-0 vote.
The Survivor 47 finalists compete for immunity one last time
The finale kicked off with the four remaining castaways fighting for a spot in the finale. Sue, Sam, Rachel, and Teeny competed in the final Immunity Challenge of the season, which involved crawling through mud and solving an intricate puzzle. It was a tight race between Rachel and Sam but in the end, Rachel emerged victorious, earning her fourth individual immunity win of the season. She is among only five women to win four Individual Immunity Challenges in a season. She is going to be a tough one to beat in the finale. Her resume is so stacked.
Rachel winning means she will decide who to take with her into the finale. Back at camp, she wastes no time making her decision. She declares she is taking Sue to the finale, which means Teeny and Sam will make fire to earn their spot.
Teeny and Sam practice their fire-making skills
Teeny and Sam prepare for the big event. Rachel wants Teeny to win, so she helps her make a fire while Sam struggles alone. Sam is having a hard time starting a flame and he begins to feel discouraged, especially after stumbling upon Teeny’s roaring fire on the other side of camp. He is unsure if he will be able to beat her in the competition. He decides to read his letter from his dad for inspiration. The letter reminds him of his purpose and why he came on Survivor. The note gives him a new burst of energy. He returns to his fire-making station and this time, he makes a successful fire.
The four remaining castaways meet with Jeff. Rachel officially chooses to take Sue to the finale, which we already knew was the plan. She openly says she wants Sam out of the game. Jeff asks Teeny how she feels about the upcoming competition and going head-to-head with Sam.
Teeny admits she projected some insecurities onto her opponent this season. She says when she looks at Sam she sees “a handsome, smart, athletic, strong guy” who probably got a lot of attention from girls. She says she felt envious of him because she wanted that to be her growing up but felt constricted by gender norms. I find it so funny that Teeny sees Sam as this big, alpha male jock. This man was talking about “channeling his theatre experience” into the game two weeks ago. He’s giving lead in the school play, not quarterback. I just don’t see the vision Teeny!
Who is the third Survivor 47 finalist?
It’s finally time to make fire. We know both of these competitors can make fire because we saw it in their practice session. However, there is a lot on the line and one of them may crumble under the pressure. Thankfully, they both do a great job and it is an extremely close race to the finish. In the end, Sam’s rope breaks first and he earns his spot in the finale. Aw! Poor Teeny! I’m happy for Sam but I hate to see sweet Teeny cry. Sam advances and Teeny becomes the final member of the Survivor 47 jury.
The finalists prepare to face the jury
It is Day 26 on the island and the final three are celebrating by enjoying a nice, big breakfast. There is orange juice, bacon, fruit, bread, jam, and more. In a confessional, Sue announces that today is her 59th birthday. She, of course, doesn’t tell the other finalists because they still think she’s 45. The final castaways reminisce about their time on the island and prepare to face the jury. One of them is about to get a whole lot richer.
Who is the Sole Survivor of Survivor 47?
Finally, it is time for the final three to plead their case to the jury. The jurors ask some good, thoughtful questions that force the players to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. Gabe asks the finalists how they think their game will be remembered. Rachel talks up her adaptability, telling the jury she had to rebuild her game from the bottom up after her allies were eliminated. Sam says he wants to be remembered as a scrappy player who never gave up on himself. Sue talks about her loyalty and how she kept her integrity intact. She also reveals her real age and says she will be the oldest woman to win Survivor if the jury votes in her favor.
Caroline asks the castaways to name their biggest mistake in the game. Rachel answers the question like a politician, choosing to focus on her positive attributes rather than giving a direct answer. Sam says he regrets not tying up loose ends after making big moves. Sue says she regrets trusting Andy, who blindsided her three times.
All three finalists do a good job but I have to say, Sam is the best talker. He was good at pleading his case and poking holes in Rachel’s game. She would talk about a move she was proud of and he would jump in and point out a flaw with her strategy. It was an interesting defensive move and I’m interested to see if it works.
The jury cast their votes for the winner of Survivor 47. My gut says it will be Rachel but Sam put up a great fight. Jeff reads the vote and reveals that Rachel is the winner with a 7-1-0 vote. Kyle was the sole vote for Sam. Congratulations Rachel! A very well-deserved win in my opinion.
Survivor will return in the spring of 2025.
