Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher is under fire from Captain Glenn Shephard on the upcoming January 6 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
Following a charter with a demanding group, the guests spoke to the Captain as they were leaving the boat. They blamed the female/interior crew members for everything that went wrong while praising the men/exterior crew.
Glenn’s criticism doesn’t sit well with Daisy, who felt her team had gone out of their way to try to please a very difficult group. It wouldn’t be the first time Glenn was accused of favoring the deck team over Interior.
A difficult group of guests who were tough to please
Glenn finds the departing guests waiting for him in the lounge. He asks, “Is there anything you guys want to talk to me about?”
Apparently, the guests didn’t feel the service lived up to the standards they were expecting aboard a superyacht. They felt the exterior crew who kept them entertained with the water toys did an outstanding job. But when it came to the interior crew’s service, it was a different story.
“When you come to this level of luxury,” the co-primary said, “you do want what you paid for. I feel like the guys kind of went over and beyond to help us have a good time. The girls were all really friendly, but … they weren’t as attentive.”
The other co-primary felt the ladies had been friendly to their faces. “But as soon as they turned around,” she said, “they were rolling their eyes [and] frustrated.”
First of all, I’m with Daisy. This group was very difficult. They paid tens of thousands of dollars to charter a sailing yacht, but they didn’t like to sail. Almost as soon as the crew put the sails up, the women complained about feeling seasick. They didn’t like the tilt of the boat and made Glenn end the sail early.
Next, the guests specifically requested a seven-course meal. But halfway through dinner, they protested that it was just too much food. They also wanted a different cocktail with each course, but soon realized it was too much. They complained the drinks were “too strong.”
Daisy smiled and suggested that they didn’t have to finish the cocktails.
Then there was the guest who turned her nose up at the Oysters Rockefeller. “I don’t eat oysters,” she said. But after checking her preference sheet, Chef Cloyce Martin saw “oysters” listed under her requested foods.
Daisy gets frustrated with herself
After the guests say goodbye, Glenn sits down with Daisy. He tells her that the primaries didn’t think “the service was up to the level that you would expect on a super yacht.”
But Daisy pushes back. “There was just such a bad vibe,” she says. “I will take responsibility for that … I tried to start conversations, but the looks I was getting. The conversations that I started were stonewalling, and it got to the point where I felt like, ‘I don’t wanna be around them.’” Erica Rose has competition for the worst charter guest ever.
However, Glenn points out that Daisy is the leader of her department. “What can we do different?” he asks.
“It’s not just you,” she tells Glenn. “F*ck me, this f*cking day.” I understand Daisy’s frustration. We all know Glenn subconsciously takes the mens’ side over the women all the time. But then, Daisy’s also known to get stressed out and be hard on herself.
The captain tells her to take a minute for herself and come back.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
