Ava Max shared heartbreaking news amid devastating fires in LA, including the Palisades fire which has burned more than 23,000 acres with 13% containment. In her latest Instagram post, Max dropped a horrific after photo of the Palisades Charter High School, where she shot the “So Am I” music video. She recalled some of the memories they made while shooting the video by sharing snippets from the MV with the photo of one of the burnt structures in the school. The singer noted how “these beautiful memories will stay with me forever” and prayed for those affected by the fires.

During the weekend, the Palisades Charter High School’s Facebook page dropped an update that many spaces inside “are NOT visibly damaged by fire.” However, it mentioned that the fire destroyed or damaged “a significant portion—now estimated at over 40%.” Deadline further reported that besides Max’s music video, the notable school served as the shooting location for multiple other projects. These include MTV’s supernatural teen drama, “Teen Wolf,” the 1976 adaptation of Stephen King’s “Carrie,” and “Freaky Friday.” The list also includes Olivia Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” music video.

Ava Max’s update came as hundreds of firefighters worked diligently to contain the LA wildfires, including the Palisades fire. The blaze sparked on January 7, with multiple other bushfires sparking in the following days. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, there are presently three fires actively burning through the city, including the one in Palisades, the Eaton fire, and the Hurst fire.

Bringing more hope to those affected, several celebrities and billionaires are donating funds to the LA fire relief. Prominent stars and companies such as Beyoncé, Paris Hilton, Mark Zuckerberg, Apple, Disney, and Paramount, among others, have contributed the the cause.
