Maddie Brown is best known as the daughter of Janelle Brown and Kody Brown. The Sister Wives star has made it her mission to speak out against her polygamous father openly. And he is not thrilled. The current season has shown Maddie sharing just how much of an absent father Kody has been. While he believes his daughter is a “gossip,” Maddie stands by her truth. She is currently helping her mother break free of his control. For a hot second, Maddie set up her own podcast, but fans have whiplash as she has stepped aside from her partnership.

What was Maddie Brown’s podcast about?

Back in November, Maddie shared with followers that she had decided to set up a podcast. And at this rate, who hasn’t… In a message to Sister Wives fans, she shared, “Big news, friends! The Authentic Society Podcast is coming! This has been something we have loved working on. And we are so excited to share it with you—creating a place to dive into the raw, real sides of womanhood, friendships, marriage, faith, and the relationships that shape us.” The TLC star noted, “We’re not here to gloss over the hard stuff or throw out perfect solutions; instead, we’re unpacking real stories, sharing laughs, and learning together. Can’t wait to have you join us on this journey!”

The podcast had its inaugural episode on Monday, November 4th. She was cohosting with her friend, Jayme Landley, and the teaser got fans talking. One episode had Maddie and Jayme talking about childbearing with the mother of four, sharing, “You can’t win.” But more interesting was when Maddie spoke out about Kody having strong feelings about her choosing to live with her husband before marriage.

Maddie Brown has left the building

I feel like companies need to make podcasting equipment more expensive so we can avoid quitters like this. Maddie had barely sunk her teeth into the passion project when it was announced she would be hanging up her microphone. During an Instagram post, Maddie wrote, “After much reflection, I’ve decided to step away from The Authentic Society podcast. I’ve truly enjoyed the experience, learned so much, and am deeply grateful for the support from all of you.”

“However, it’s clear this project no longer aligns with my goals or the vision I have for my future and my family,” added Maddie. The Sister Wives star continued, “While I’m closing this chapter with The Authentic Society I’m not closing the door on podcasting forever. Who knows what the future might hold? For now, however, my focus is on the season I’m in being present for and focusing on the well-being of growing my family, building Taeda Farms and starting to build our new home.” Maddie signed off by saying, “All of these things are where my heart currently is and what I feel needs all of my focus right now. Thank you for being part of our journey – it meant the world to both Jayme and myself. Jayme will be continuing the podcast, and I wish her all the love and support.”

Why did Maddie Brown quit her podcast?

The reason for Maddie leaving The Authentic Society podcast is unclear, but Jayme tried to clarify during a “Hey ya’ll” video. The new host of the show shared, “Gotta love being vulnerable on the internet. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share this video, but in the spirit of being authentic, I figured I would. I filmed this video last week and wanted to share how I feel. Here’s to 2025 and posting my feelings on the internet, which I don’t think will ever get easier.” There doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings between the two women.

The news of Maddie leaving was big. But she took to the comments to show support, writing, “This podcast is great, and it will be so good with you! You have a passion for sharing your heart, and I admire that! I’m excited to see what you do! You have value, and your voice matters! You got this girl! it is going to do great!” Maddie could have had too much on her plate between setting up a farm, helping Janelle move, and being pregnant. As a one-time listener, I didn’t feel Jayme and Maddie were the right match. So, maybe this sudden departure is a blessing in disguise.

Sister Wives is available to stream on TLC.
