Alan Cumming Teases Historic Ending to Traitors Season 3: ‘Not Like Anything We’ve Seen’

Season 3 of The Traitors has already featured diabolical new twists. This season, host Alan Cumming, who serves up amazing looks, is also surprising the contestants with changes to the game. He secretly selected three Traitors at the Round Table. Bob the Drag Queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race, along with Danielle Reyes from Big Brother and Survivor star Carolyn Wiger.

However, unbeknownst to them, Alan admitted legendary Survivor player “Boston” Rob Mariano into the game as a Traitor. Plus, Derrick Levasseur and Wes Bergmann were also entering the Scottish castle on the second day as Faithfuls.

Now Alan is weighing in on what makes The Traitors Season 3 so interesting. And it seems we have a lot of exciting television headed our way.

Alan Cumming said that Season 3 of The Traitors “upped the ante”

“I think partly because the second season was so successful, there was a pressure to not just repeat ourselves, it actually upped the ante,” Alan told Newsweek. “So it’s a question of pulling the rug from under them and keeping it fresh and having these twists and surprises. Even with my costumes and everything, we upped the ante on that.” I’m here for it!

Alan continued, “And the contestants bring their energy and their backstories, and so that makes it a whole new thing as well. I love the fact of how each season is so different to the one before, even though, structurally, it has a similarity.” However, season 3 feels like the stakes are higher.

“The ending to this one is not like anything we’ve seen in the previous two seasons. There’s bits in it that are so intense and brutal,” Alan explained. “I’ve said this before, but I actually thought I was going to have to break up a fight at round table one time. It was really terrifying.” He added, “I don’t break up many fights.”

Alan also commented on how the Real Housewives have such a presence in the castle. “I love the way they gather as a pack and have this loyalty, sort of like the mafia, unspoken Housewives loyalty. It makes me laugh,” he stated.

“Sometimes it’s actually good to have better social skills. And they also understand the drama of bringing a glass of wine around,” Alan added. Unfortunately, Dorinda Medley was unjustly murdered first, while Chanel Ayan was the Traitors’ second victim.

This season is killing it (pun intended) and I can’t wait to see who makes it to the end and claims the prize pot!

The Traitors Season 3 continues on Thursdays on Peacock at 9/8c.
