Survivor star Parvati Shallow and Phillip Solomon found the Banker’s secret case on Deal or No Deal Island. While it was a blessing to find out that they had a case worth $1.5 million, the curse that came with it was on its way. Big Brother legend Dr. Will Kirby joined the competition. Was anyone happy to see him? No. But that didn’t stop him from pledging to shake up the game.
Dr. Will Kirby “came in hot” in Deal or No Deal Island
It seems like Parvati and Dr. Will are going to have issues. His desire to cause chaos could be a problem for her game, and for her alliance partner, Australian Survivor winner David Genat.
So, after decades away from competing, Dr. Will is back. “My kids are 11 and 14, and they’ve never seen me on a competition reality show,” Dr. Will told PEOPLE. “My daughter, in particular, we watched Deal or No Deal Island Season 1. I won’t tell you what it was, but she said, ‘It would be really, really funny if you did this on that show.’ And I said, ‘You know what, sweetheart? I’m going to do that.’” He added, “And I did it. I think she’s going to watch it and love it, and it’s going to be hilarious.”
Unlike Parvati and David, Dr. Will didn’t try to fly under the radar. “So I came in hot, guns blazing. I wanted to win people over,” he stated. In addition, Dr. Will is nothing like his reality TV persona. He is “meek and quiet and introverted” and “a guy who reads books and goes to bed at 9:00.” Wow! He should really try acting.
Dr. Will continued, “Not only is that not good for the show, it’s just not what people would’ve believed. So I came in just screaming and yelling. I came here to entertain,” he added.
Dr. Will wants to play against the Banker
Plus, with coming in late, Dr. Will knew that his chances of winning the game were slim. “I can’t in good conscience tell you that I tried to win a lot of the competitions. I may or may not have been throwing a lot of the competitions,” Dr. Will stated. Well, that will go over well at camp.
However, that was all part of Dr. Will’s strategy. “Just statistically, it’s in my favor. At least I can control my own fate,” he said. “That was my intention.”
As for his toughest opponent? Himself. “If I can control my emotions, if I can get a little bit lucky if I can make the right decisions, then I will do well. And are there great players on the show? Absolutely,” Dr. Will stated. “This is the best cast I’ve ever seen, and I’ve done a gazillion shows. Everyone came out to play. Wildly intelligent group of people. Varying lifestyles,” he added.
Dr. Will continued, “This is a young person’s game. I love reality television and I have been part of it for 25 years. But nothing in life is sadder than a reality television person who doesn’t know when to retire.” He added, “If I’m being really transparent, I think it’s time to pass the torch. And this is the best group to pass the torch to.”
Deal or No Deal Island continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.
