In Season 5, Episode 16 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Heather Gay had a terrible idea. She came up with the not-so-brilliant plan during dinner of a way to “clear the air” with her castmates.
She asked them to scroll through their phones and find the worst thing they’d ever said about someone in their group. Then let that person read it out loud. “We made fun of [Monica Garcia’s] Burn Book, [but] we all have our own burn books [in our phones],” she said. “We burn it, and move on.”
Though Heather meant well, this experiment in letting things go didn’t work out nearly as well as she’d hoped.
Lisa Barlow thinks Meredith Marks “weaponizes” information
There wasn’t time during the episode to show everyone’s messages. But during the extended/uncensored version of the episode released on Peacock on January 16, more mean texts aired.
“I wrote about Meredith [Marks],” Lisa Barlow said in an additional scene, handing Meredith her phone. “This is last year when I was super upset.”
“I feel like Meredith digs up information to weaponize it,” Meredith read to the group. “It’s f*cking dirty, and I don’t like it.”
Fortunately, Meredith didn’t take offense at Lisa’s text. She took Lisa’s words in stride, saying, “Given where we were last year, I’m not super surprised. OK.”
Heather’s game was a “recipe for disaster”
On The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show, the other women didn’t believe Lisa’s text about Meredith was the “meanest” thing in her phone.
“Does she expect us to [believe] this is the worst thing she’s said about Meredith? She called her a ‘garbage whore’ two years ago,” Angie Katsanevas said. “Come on, Lisa. What is really in your phone?”
Though Heather’s intent was to “clear the air” and bring the women together, the exercise misfired.
“I think your game was a horrible idea,” Meredith told Heather. Mary Cosby agreed, saying it was a “recipe for disaster.”
“You know me! Just world peace,” the NYT bestselling author laughed. “It’s all I ask.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
