Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of intimate partner violence allegations.
Family drama involving Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards’ estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, has reached a new level of contention.
Mauricio’s father, Eduardo Umansky, faces allegations of abuse from his longtime girlfriend, Simin Tabibnia. However, Eduardo’s family counters that Simin is the one responsible for abusive behavior.
Eduardo Umansky’s girlfriend sought a restraining order against him after alleging years of mistreatment, including physical abuse
In court filings obtained by In Touch, Simin, 68, sought an “elder or dependent adult abuse restraining order” against Eduardo, 81. Simin claims she experienced years of verbal and physical abuse during their 18-year relationship, with the most recent incident allegedly occurring on December 4, 2024. She says she now fears for her safety.
“I am afraid of [Eduardo],” she wrote, alleging he “physically abused me on multiple occasions resulting in injuries.” This included incidents where he allegedly punched her, shoved her, and choked her. Simin also shared photos of her injuries, saying the abuse left her emotionally scarred as well.
She attributed Eduardo’s violent episodes to alcohol and interactions with his family, particularly his daughter, Sharon Umansky Benton. “Often, immediately after speaking with his daughter … he becomes enraged and attacks me.” Simin alleged.
This legal conflict follows earlier disputes. Last year, Mauricio and Sharon were granted conservatorship over Eduardo, claiming Simin had manipulated him. A court granted Sharon a restraining order against Simin, citing accusations that Simin was abusive toward Eduardo and even physically attacked Sharon during an argument. Sharon accused Simin of biting her, striking her, and pulling out her hair, but Simin denied these claims and filed her own restraining order against Sharon, asserting that Sharon had been the aggressor.
In addition to the conservatorship, Sharon filed an elder abuse restraining order against Simin. Sharon claims Simin caused physical harm to Eduardo, such as bruises and scratches. She described her father as “very depressed” and cut off from friends due to Simin’s controlling behavior. Sharon also alleged that Simin used threats, violence, and manipulation to exploit Eduardo financially. The court issued a temporary order, with a permanent decision pending.
Simin has denied Sharon’s accusations, asserting that Sharon harbored a financial motive and longstanding animosity toward her. Both sides continue to dispute the claims, leaving the court to determine the next steps. A hearing is scheduled for next month to address the restraining orders and the broader conflict.
Simin also accused Eduardo and his family of ongoing harassment, alleging he made over 100 calls and sent numerous texts despite a restraining order. She alleges that Eduardo’s family has been “threatening to call the police and have me arrested if I answer any of [Eduardo’s] calls or text messages. These threats have caused me immense stress and fear.”
Eduardo hasn’t yet provided a response to Simin’s petition.
