Here’s Why Meredith Marks Is a Real Housewives Hall of Famer

Since Season 1 of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Meredith Marks has been a contender. She strutted out onto the Bravo scene, a confident boss b*tch, mother and wife. And frankly, never let anyone forget it. She came across as the most stable but soon became the flip-flopping housewife we all know and love. Between her stance on Jen Shah and her relationship with her husband, she was the housewife fans deserved. Meredith is the gift that keeps on giving to the Real Housewives franchise.

Don’t sleep on Meredith Marks

I have to admit, the last two seasons of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City have left me on the fence with Meredith. I found her to be acting disingenuous in most of her scenes. And her outbursts at the other woman felt unwarranted for the most part. The first half of Season 5 has shown Mer on the sideline with fans calling for her snowflake. She has been quiet for the most part, with an uninteresting storyline. Now, while I loved her bat mitzvah journey, it wasn’t exactly housewife material, especially after storylines like Jen’s arrest and Monica Garcia.

But after the newest and unhinged Real Housewives of Salt Lake City episode, I currently have Meredith at the top of my list for the most improved. Meredith has been on a mission, an unclear mission, but a mission nonetheless. Between still being disgusted by Britani Bateman at dinner and now, I think, regretting throwing Angie Katsanevas out of her ceremony, fans were being given whiplash. The jeweler might have needed a minute to warm up, but she came in hot and prepared to eviscerate Brit. No one should ever accuse someone of an eating disorder or pill addiction, and Mer made sure Britani learned her lesson.

Meredith Marks is a lawyer at her core

I can’t deny how enriching it is to watch Meredith take any accusation against her extremely personally. She is armed and ready for a battle when she feels encroached on. The perfect example of this is the moment all the women learn that Britani is recording them. Meredith and the others are triggered and join forces in a Girl Scout moment to check the newbie. But Mer happens to go the extra mile. She becomes so irate I can see the veins popping out of her head and arms. Without missing a beat, Meredith calls out the liar and quips, “Clearly, we can see who has issues here. And it is not me.”

At this moment, Meredith is unleashed like a rabid dog and goes for Britani’s jugular. I actually feel bad for the actress, but after her fourth version of the failed selfie, I can’t blame Mer for her reaction. This scene is a prime example of Mer’s ability to hold her own and back any housewife she comes across into a corner. Lest we forget, she also comes prepared with her still-running tagline, “You can leave!”

Meredith Marks brings comedic relief

I could hardly contain my laughter as Meredith made it clear she couldn’t care less about Britani’s sleeping with Jared Osmond secret. Instead, she got down to the nitty gritty about if the singer planted a bug in her hotel room. Surely, she was kidding? Nope. She even recruited Heather Gay to sweep her bedroom. The night quickly turned into a murder mystery as Mer reenacted her coughing fit and chatted with her husband. After a stressful dinner, Meredith retreats to her room to talk smack with Lisa Barlow. This was perhaps the highlight and showcased that Mer just didn’t give a damn. She knew the other women were listening, and she kept sh*t talking anyway. I mean, is she a legend, or is she a legend?

The cherry on top was Meredith’s monologue, which not only left Heather gobsmacked but also viewers. “I’ve had enough of the lies from everyone. Get your stories straight. Treat me with kindness and respect. Don’t tell my story. I don’t cosign on affairs and infidelity.” At that moment, Meredith ascended the throne to sit with OGs like Dorinda Medley and NeNe Leakes.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is available to stream on Peacock.
