Why Tom Sandoval Cannot Escape His Villain Persona on The Traitors Season 3

The Traitors Season 3 has just started, and the drama and tension are next level. Host Alan Cumming’s picks for Traitors were superb. He chose Big Brother contestant Danielle Reyes, along with Bob the Drag Queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Carolyn Wiger from Survivor. Of course, as a fun surprise, Alan tossed in a bonus Traitor: Survivor legend “Boston” Rob Mariano. There are going to be some power clashes in that turret! Meanwhile, Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Sandoval is sticking out like a sore thumb.

Plus, his Scandoval past has already seeped into the game. As you may recall, he cheated on Ariana Madix, his longtime love, with her good friend and fellow VPR star, Rachel Leviss. This scandal rippled across pop culture. And because of this, several players have already made up their minds about Tom.

Of course, Tom no doubt came on the show to shed his rep as a liar and cheat. However, that isn’t going to happen in this castle in the Scottish Highlands. Here’s why Tom Sandoval cannot escape his villain persona on The Traitors Season 3.

Before Alan chose his Traitors, he had a chat with the players beforehand. Naturally, many people want to be Traitors. However, Tom was not one of them.

“I would love to be a Faithful. I don’t think I would do well as a Traitor,” Tom told Alan.

“How would you feel if I were to tap you on the shoulder? Would you feel that I’d betrayed you, Tom?” Alan asked.

“Yes,” Sandoval replied. “Doesn’t feel so nice, does it?” Alan quipped. I just loved seeing the two men, sitting in their kilts, having a conversation. So, while Tom may be a Faithful, his real-life actions may have put a target on his back. His reputation with some of his cast mates seems to have preceded him.

“Oh my gosh. Do you see who it is?” Nikki Garcia asked Bachelorette star Gabby Windey when she spotted Tom. “I’m not saying hi to him,” Gabby replied.

Even Pump Rules was unable to continue with its original cast because of the deep divisions caused by the scandal. Understandably, Ariana refused to film scenes with Tom. And she had the last laugh because her career was on fire. Right now, Tom is the singer and creative behind Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras.

Right after Alan picked the Traitors, Tom was already throwing around names, which seemed sus to some of the contestants. Tom isn’t on a VPR cast trip to Scotland. It’s a competition, and causing drama early on is never a good strategy.

Chrishell Stause claimed that Tom Sandoval was targeting her

The name that Tom tossed out in front of several people was Chrishell Stause. He told former Real Housewives of Potomac star Robyn Dixon that Chrishell “hunched” at the Round Table when Alan was picking the Traitors.

“My biggest red flag is Chrishell. She just seems very off, very uncomfortable. Scared,” Tom said in a confessional. “She seems fricken’ scared.” Well, who can argue with logic like that?

However, not all the competitors were thrilled that Tom was mentioning names already. “Right when we first walked out Tom mentioned you. It was like five steps out of there,” Dylan Efron told Chrishell.

“Do you think it’s because I’m friends with Ariana and he knows that?” she asked Danielle, Dylan, and Nikki. “That’s sabotage!” Chrishell added. Welp, Nikki co-signed Chrishell’s statement. “That’s so not cool,” Nikki said. “That is sabotage.”

At the Round Table, before the competitors voted to banish someone, Tom called out Chrishell’s “strange behavior.” So, when it was time to vote, Chrishell voted for Tom. “The Traitors have to be able to lie, cheat, and deceive easily,” the Selling Sunset star stated. “And since I know that you possess all of those skills, I voted for you.” Ouch.

Tom Sandoval is floundering as a Faithful on The Traitors Season 3

Did Tom watch The Traitors before coming on the show? Asking for a friend. While he seems to be trying to mingle, he is catching some side-eye. And it doesn’t help that all of his hot takes are wrong.

He accused Chrishell of acting suspiciously about three seconds after the Traitors were selected. Plus, after Wes Bergmann entered the game, Tom gave his opinions about who the Traitors were. Unfortunately, a gaming phenom like Wes wasn’t impressed. He decided to ignore the “propaganda spewing out of this guy’s mouth.” Burn.

So, Tom seems to be getting the dumb edit, and his wild eyes aren’t helping. Once the Traitors were chosen, he ripped off his blindfold right away to gauge people’s reactions. Instead, the cast was reacting to him. He looked like he was shocked to be there and was completely terrified.

In his confessional, Bob the Drag Queen said, “For some reason, Tom is f*cking mad-dogging. I’m like, girl, stop f*cking looking at me.”

Well, perhaps Tom will get his peepers under control and stop looking creepy. And he didn’t help his case at the breakfast after the first murder. Tom, and his gray shirt, almost dissolved into a puddle of sweat. Take it easy, dude.

However, it looks like he might have a shot of slipping into a Bravo alliance with Robyn and the only remaining housewife, Dolores Catania of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. In the end, going on a show where you have to deceive and betray people may not have been the smartest move for Tom. And going in as a Faithful just reminds people of his behavior during Scandoval. While Tom just can’t escape his villain persona, he at least seems to have enjoyed his experience at the Scottish castle.

The Traitors is available to stream on Peacock.
