Well, somehow Season 3 of The Traitors has leveled up from last season. When the players arrived at host Alan Cumming’s hideaway in the Scottish Highlands, they were immediately tested. A cloaked figure with a gold mask was standing on the castle lawn. It turned out that it was Survivor legend Boston Rob Mariano. If a player shook Alan’s hand, then Boston Rob could join the game, eliminating another player. In a move that shocked no one, Boston Rob was turned away.
Meanwhile, Alan was preparing to select the Traitors. He secretly picked Danielle Reyes from Big Brother, along with RuPaul’s Drag Race star Bob the Drag Queen and Carolyn Wiger from Survivor. However, much to the murderous trio’s surprise, Rob did join the game as a Traitor. While Danielle was thrilled that Boston Rob wouldn’t be an enemy, Carolyn was concerned. And the stage was set for a showdown after Bob took a bold shot at Boston Rob. While Boston Rob emerged as the winner, Bob the Drag Queen may have had the last laugh.
Here’s how Bob the Drag Queen ruined Boston Rob’s chances of winning The Traitors Season 3.
Why did Bob the Drag Queen come after Boston Rob Mariano in The Traitors Season 3?
After the Easter Island statue challenge, Alan asked Bob the Drag Queen about his strategy. Players who assembled parts of a heavy statue on a hill won a shield. “I did think that one of the new guys needs a head up there because we all think one of them might be a Traitor,” he said. Now, the three new guys were Boston Rob, Big Brother star Derrick Levasseur, and The Challenge’s own Wes Bergmann. Shots fired!
Of course, Boston Rob was furious, and he went around trying to shore up support for voting out Bob. He said that he heard Bob’s name everywhere. When Boston Rob told Danielle, she panicked and said they needed to stick to the original plan.
The Traitor’s last murder was committed in plain sight – sort of. They listed three players for possible murder: Nikki Garcia, Jeremy Collins, and Ciara Miller. All three had to lie down in coffins outside in front of all the contestants. Later, the Traitors returned and put one nail in Jeremy’s coffin, signaling his murder. Watching Bob gleefully hammer that nail was chef’s kiss. The Traitors hoped that the Faithfuls would suspect that either Nikki or Ciara was a tricky Traitor.
So, Danielle wanted to keep the same plan, and Carolyn didn’t want to vote for Bob. Both ladies went into the Round Table thinking that the Traitors were operating as a team. Well, guess again!
How did Boston Rob take control of the Round Table?
Bob the Drag Queen’s behavior was suspicious to two Faithfuls. While Dylan Efron was out in front and had already gone after Bob once, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania was thinking the same. However, she wasn’t ready to speak out yet. So, Boston Rob had a willing helper in Dylan when it came to Bob’s downfall.
“Since I got here, there’s been one person who has been quarterbacking this entire show,” Boston Rob said before naming his fellow Traitor. Poor Bob looked completely shell-shocked.
Then Dylan weighed in, noting Bob’s mastery of deflection as a reason he was a Traitor. “I will tell you a joke, but I will never tell you a lie,” Bob stated. “I’m just going to say nine words. I swear to God that I am a Faithful.”
Boston Rob replied, “Okay, let me say two words. You’re not.” Next, Bob accused the Survivor fan favorite of being frightened of him. “Everything he said about me is actually true about him,” Bob the Drag Queen claimed. As the Round Table wore on, Bob and Boston Rob continued to spar.
“When you say his name, he’s going to stand up there and say, ‘I’m a Traitor,’” Bob stated. Well, that was no lie! In the grand finale of his masterful take-down, Boston Rob said to vote him out next if he was wrong. In the end, Bob wasn’t able to save himself.
Bob the Drag Queen’s ultimate revenge in The Traitors Season 3
I felt sad when both Danielle and Carolyn voted for their cloaked co-conspirator. It was a betrayal that Bob the Drag Queen didn’t see coming. Yet, voting for him made the two Traitors seem more like Faithfuls. It was a smart move on their part, even if it made Carolyn and Danielle upset.
So, when Bob entered the Circle of Truth, Alan asked whether he was a Faithful or a Traitor. “Faithfuls, listen to my words very carefully. I will tell a truth, but I will never tell a lie,” Bob the Drag Queen said emphatically. Then he admitted to being a Traitor – and claims he didn’t lie, because he’s not religious. So, he’s warned everybody that Rob is ALSO a Traitor.
As Bob exited, the room erupted in joy and excitement. Naturally, Boston Rob was the hero of the moment, and that certainly rubbed Carolyn the wrong way. Obviously, a livid Danielle and Carolyn plan to turn on Rob.
However, Bob the Drag Queen’s final warning, and clear hint that Boston Rob was a Traitor, was catastrophic. Now Boston Rob was cloaked in sus. Plus, later on, Wes and some other contestants were talking about the Round Table. As they discussed how confident Rob was about Bob the Drag Queen, Wes made an observation. “How do you really 100 percent know that someone’s a Traitor?” he asked.
The answer is that you would only know for sure if you were also a Traitor. And, my heart sank. I’ve always been a Boston Rob fan, whether on Survivor or his incredible gameplay on the first season of Deal or No Deal Island. He is simply an incredible strategist. However, with Bob the Drag Queen’s parting words, he put the final nail in Boston Rob’s hopes of winning the prize pot.
