As Season 3 of Deal or No Deal Island rolls on, the challenges have even more twists. Nothing is as it seems in this game. There are 12 players left, each hoping to prove that they are worthy to play the Banker for the cash in that final case. Meanwhile, host and Game Master Joe Manganiello is steering them through the Banker’s tricky challenges and acts as her intermediary.
Last time, contestants La Shell and Courtney (CK) faced the Banker. After making a good deal, they sent home Sydnee Peck. Let’s dive into the Season 2, Episode 3 recap of Deal or No Deal Island, titled “Chain of Command.”
Dr. Will blows Parvati Shallow’s cover on Deal or No Deal Island Season 3, Episode 2
After The Temple, the group gathered at camp for a meal. While no one was being friendly, that didn’t deter Dr. Will. So, he shared his bio with the group. He told them that he played Big Brother 20 years ago, and he is a physician who has done well for himself. CK already noted that Dr. Will has “narcissistic personality disorder.” And she added, “I hate this man!”
Then, as Dr. Will was giving his best reality competition advice, he let it slip that Parvati had played Survivor. Most people we stunned. She coolly walked away from the table as Dr. Will apologized.
“You could hear a pin drop in that moment. Now my cover has been blown and I honestly don’t think I can handle living with Dr. Will for the rest of this game,” Parvati stated.
The next morning, Maria-Grace (MG) told David how she knew that Parvati had been on Survivor since their arrival. She then explained the entire game to Australia’s best Survivor player ever. And it was hilarious! “Everyone that wins Survivor is known to be, like, insanely intelligent,” she stated. Of course, David raised one eyebrow at the camera. We see you, David.
Everyone’s talking at the same time
The group met Joe on a platform by the ocean. This excursion is designed to test a player’s ability to be influential. Buried on the beach under sandcastles are 12 cases. One of the cases is valued at $4 million. However, getting the cases will involve good communication and some careful “persuasion.”
The contestants will be split into two groups. Each player will be connected by one rope. The rope only has enough slack to allow one guest at a time to reach a key in the center. Without the key, they cannot free themselves. Once they are free, they will follow a path in the jungle to a series of giant sandcastles. The case amounts are marked, and each person must take a case. And, the Banker has hidden a bonus case, too. Naturally, it is unmarked and will “influence the game.”
Of course, David stepped forward and went first, and Parvati was impressed. Then Parvati grabbed the key and was right behind him.
Meanwhile, in the next group, after some arguing with CK, Phillip was the first to unlock his case. Dr. Will went last as he planned to throw this challenge. “Let the peasants run. The king doesn’t run,” Dr. Will said as he strolled along the path.
While Lete was the fourth one out, she nabbed the $4 million case. However, Phillip has the Banker’s surprise case. And boy, will everyone be surprised!
The Banker has another twist for the players
Once the contestants returned, they were escorted to the platform one by one. On the platform, some stands held two cases. Each contestant must select where to place their case, and that will determine their teammate. If the other half of the holder is occupied, then they are partners. If a player chooses an empty stand, then whoever comes later can claim that person. Each team’s combined value in their cases is what counts. Right away, CK and MG agreed to pair up, as did Storm and Dickson.
Next up was Parvati, and Phillip picked her. Somehow, Dr. Will arrived and was waiting for his match. Lete snubbed him and took her own holder. Plus, Lete told Rock that she had the biggest case, and urged him to come with her. I love that!
David was back next, and he partnered with Dr. Will. Finally, La Shell and Seychelle were the final two to arrive and lock in their cases.
Welp, in Phillip’s surprise case, it said, “Split.” This advantage allowed Parvati and Phillip to split up another team, leaving each person with one case for their total. Plus, Parvati and Phillip will be safe at The Temple, as will the duo with the highest combined case value. Everyone else is up for elimination.
My jaw dropped when CK went over to Phillip and Parvati, urging them to split up Lete and Rock. Finally, Phillip did just that. That left Lete with a case worth $4 million, and Rock with only $820,000.
Meanwhile, CK and MG cruised into first place with a combined total of $6,725,000. And that meant that La Shell and Seychelle came in last, along with Rock. So, CK and MG would decide whether Seychelle, La Shell, or Rock would face the Banker at The Temple.
Is CK the biggest threat on Deal or No Deal Island?
When Parvati and CK chatted solo, Parvati told her that she felt pressured by CK to pick Rock. The Survivor alum realized that CK was the most dangerous player in the game because she craved power.
And when Rock approached Phillip and Parvati, she apologized, saying that they regretted their decision. To his credit, Rock said that he would play the Banker. Everyone else was feeling anxious at camp, wondering who Rock would send home if he beat The Banker. But he wasn’t telling.
Who will face the Banker in The Temple?
Charles “Rock” Carlson faces off against the Banker in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 3.
However, before Rock does, CK makes it known that Dr. Will doesn’t need the money, and his bragging about his wealth is obnoxious. Basically, she wants him gone. And she is far from alone.
Then, it was time to Rock! His infectious and positive energy made me smile. Everyone was on their feet clapping. “Ben … Kamari, we got a wild one tonight,” Joe stated.
First, Rock chose case number eight, for the date of his wedding anniversary. During the first round, he has to open four cases. Unfortunately, in the first three cases, Rock knocked over $12 million off the board. And his final case was another high number. All the energy dropped in The Temple. Then The Banker called and dissed Rock’s skills as a player. However, he received an offer of $133,000.
While some players urged him to take the deal, Dr. Will loudly advised against taking it. Because of course, he did! Still, Rock didn’t take the deal.
He had to choose another four cases, and there were only two high-value cases left on the board. His first three cases were all low numbers. Alas, his last pick was one of the final two high numbers.
The Banker called again, and now the offer was $250,000. Finally, Rock took the deal to add the money to the final case. If the value in his case is higher than $250,000, Rock beats the Banker and makes a good deal.
Who was eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island, Season 2, Episode 3?
Charles “Rock” Carlson was the third player eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2.
Unfortunately, Rock made a bad deal, and the $1,340,000 was in his case. It’s sad because Rock had a gut feeling that he had it, but he accepted the deal to add money to the prize pot. Right now, the value of the final case is $531,001.
“It’s been fun and hey, keep pursuing your dreams, man. Whatever you guys decide to do,” he told the group. “It’s been a pleasure playing with you guys.”
In his final confessional, Rock said, “Despite this, I’m never giving up on myself and my dreams. Never, ever, ever. There’s always another way to make a bunch of goddang money.” He added, “Maybe I can throw my resume into Naked and Afraid or some sh*t, you know?”
Deal or No Deal Island continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.
