When fans first met James Kennedy on Vanderpump Rules, he was an overly animated English DJ. His relationship with Kristen Doute was anything but healthy, and it showed fans the explosive side of James. Over the years, James started to mellow out as he grew into a young adult. After his breakup with Rachel Leviss, he seemed to find the love of his life. Ally Lewber was grounded and had everything he needed for a fresh start. Sadly, their courtship has come to an abrupt end.

James Kennedy lost his temper at a Christmas party

Shortly before the holiday season, it was revealed that James had been arrested on domestic violence charges. The police report shared a statement from the responding officer, who stated he saw a “male and female inside of a residence.” The arrest log said the “Female stated that her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground” and confirmed that the arrest charge was “domestic battery upon spouse/co-habitant.” The duo shared their Burbank home, but at the time, it didn’t list Ally as the victim.

The incident occurred after both attended Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party in Bel-Air. A source who attended the party revealed that “James was running through the party, causing a scene.” The insider noted, “His guy friend was chasing him from Kathy’s basement all the way throughout Kathy’s backyard, and James looked mad while running away. The guy who was chasing him almost fell into the pool and dropped a lantern in the pool causing a huge scene. Everyone was wondering what was going on.”

James Kennedy speaks out about the arrest

Shortly after his arrest, James’ lawyers released a statement to People, saying, “We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James.” His legal representation continued, “We understand that there were no injuries, and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges. The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Kennedy’s arrest.”

Shortly after James rang in the New Year, he returned to Instagram to share a subtle message. He posted photos of several sobriety coins and key tags. He also uploaded a few snaps of his dog, Hippie. In the January 6th post, James seemed to confirm that he was sober once again when he wrote, “Keep coming back.” The message did not mention Ally. James also took to his Instagram Story a week after the incident on Dec 17, sharing, “I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me.”

Ally Lewber finally speaks out

But the astrologer took to her social media to upload a series of photos from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. She spent the day with her mom watching the Ohio State University’s Buckeyes defeat the University of Oregon’s Ducks.  On January 22, Ally took to her Instagram to finally set the record straight. She started by saying, “We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again. However, I was not physically hurt.” The Vanderpump Rules star added, “Thank you all for you’re support and kindness. I am happy that prosecutors decided not to file against James, as I never desired criminal charges.”

The 29-year-old ended her IG Story by telling followers, “I was shocked by the headline. And disheartened by how the event was portrayed. We are no longer together, but I’ll always support James and wish him the best with his sobriety and healing. Thank you for your understanding.” Only hours before Ally’s story, James’s attorney, Scott Leemon, revealed the Burbank City Attorney’s Office wasn’t going to press charges against the DJ. The attorney told Page Six, “There were no grounds for any charges to be filed against Mr. Kennedy. James is grateful to have this matter behind him. And is looking forward to continuing to focus on his sobriety and his DJ career.”

Vanderpump Rules is available to stream on Peacock.
