Joan Vassos has admitted that she and Gerry Turner have continued to stay in touch after she left his season of The Golden Bachelor. She took her leave from Gerry in 2023 and despite completing her own season of The Golden Bachelorette, she’s kept in contact with Gerry over the years.
Joan left the show to take care of her daughter who just gave birth. A decision she never regretted because, for her, family comes first. However, would there have been more between her and Gerry if she stayed? Ultimately, Gerry ended his season engaged to Theresa Nist who he married in 2024. The couple has since separated and Gerry filed for divorce.

And through it all, Gerry and Joan have stayed in each other’s lives.
“We are really good friends still,” Joan shared on an episode of Two Jersey Js podcast. “We stay in touch.”
When asked if she thought that maybe Gerry wanted to give their relationship another go after he split from Theresa, Joan shut it down. “I’m not gonna comment,” she replied.
That was probably the best way to answer the innuendo. And whether or not Gerry wanted to try again with Joan, it’s probably moot at this point. Joan came back to do her season of The Golden Bachelorette in 2024 where she accepted a marriage proposal from Chock Chapple in an emotional finale.
The couple are engaged but have shared that they are in no rush to get married. They are both figuring out the long-distance aspect of their relationship and getting the chance to enjoy and learn more about each other.
And perhaps they learned something from the first golden couple. “I think that we all kind of maybe learned a lesson from Gerry and Theresa,” Joan admitted. “That maybe that was too quick and they probably don’t want to make that mistake again. I certainly am not in any rush to get married. I am actually really happy now, just not having anything to do.”
Chock also shared that he and Joan are continuing to get closer and have fun.
