We’re back with another recap of Married to Medicine Season 11, and we’re pretty sure Dr. Heavenly is still somewhere trying to tally up the receipts from the Med Gala. Fortunately, that fiasco is on the back burner this week because there are bigger fish to fry. Vice President Kamala Harris has summoned our Bravolebs!
In Married to Medicine Season 11, Episode 9, “From the White House to Key West,” the Bravo cameras rolled up to Pennsylvania Avenue for a front-row seat to a thought-provoking conversation with our former Vice President. It was a big moment for the show, but by the end of the episode, the ladies were wading back into their usual messy ways. Keep on reading for our breakdown of the latest episode.
What happened in Married to Medicine Season 11, Episode 9?
Dr. Jackie received a special invitation to Washington DC, and we got a glimpse into her glamorous trip to the White House. Meanwhile, Dr. Simone and Dr. Heavenly continued their work on planning the couple’s trip to Key West. It’s a tale as old as time. They’re hoping to unpack some of the outstanding issues lingering in the group, but it ends up being more like a ticking time bomb thanks to the expanding guestlist for the trip. We’re a little terrified of where things are going.
Kamala is paging Dr. Jackie
Although Phaedra has been trying to act like she’s on a different level from the rest of the M2M cast, Dr. Jackie delivered the ultimate flex this week when she got an invite from VP Harris to come to the White House and participate in a reproductive freedom conference. It’s a big deal, and Dr. Jackie knows it.
“Paging Dr. Jackie means something different now,” she joked in a confessional interview.
We all saw the photos of these ladies at the White House, so we already knew that she brought Heavenly and Simone along with her. Still, it was hilarious watching Jackie trick Heavenly into thinking she wasn’t invited on the trip. Jackie was like, “I can only bring one person, and I’m bringing Simone. Just kidding!”
You could see Heavenly’s face light up when Jackie told her she was going to the White House. Heavenly might have been moments away from squaring up with Dr. Contessa just a few episodes ago, but she promised to be on her best behavior in DC! She knows she has to use her inside voice.
Phaedra’s got a new man
Is this a hired actor, or is this the real thing? We’ll never know. Either way, Phaedra met a guy at Sweet Tea’s age-gap speed dating extravaganza, and this week, we saw Phaedra on a date with him.
So, who is this new guy in Phaedra’s life? His name is Cheik. He’s young, he’s got a seductive accent, and it seems like a promising romance until he drops the little tidbit that he’s friends with her ex-husband, Apollo Nida. Red flag!
Phaedra tries to act like it doesn’t bother her — and as if she didn’t already know this information before sitting down with this man. According to her, she’s happy that Cheik is being “transparent.” Okay, girl.
Ultimately, none of this really matters. Phaedra said in her confessional interview that she has zero interest in getting married. She’s not in it for the long haul, meaning we’ll probably never see this man again after Season 11.
Too much baggage for Key West
After the three doctors got back from DC, they immediately had to get ready for the couples’ trip to Key West. That episode title makes a lot of sense!
The idea of getting everyone together was nerve-racking for everyone for different reasons. On one side of Atlanta, Quad warned King that he might hear “disturbing” information about her past with Dr. Greg. Meanwhile, Dr. Greg told Lateasha that he didn’t even want to go on the cast trip and be around his ex.
As if that’s not enough drama for a quick trip to Florida, Heavenly had the bright idea to invite Apollo on the couples’ trip. She said she “knows him well” because she interviewed him on her YouTube channel.
In Heavenly’s mind, this is a good idea because Phaedra and Apollo can be a shining example for Quad and Dr. G on how to coexist as divorcees. The only issue is that Apollo and Phaedra are bound together by these two little things called children. Quad and Greg genuinely have no business being around each other, and Apollo of all people isn’t going to change that. However, Phaedra said she’s fine with it, so yes, this is happening.
Teamwork makes the dream work
Before you know it, the ladies were back in Florida for the second time in Season 11. At least this time, they’re staying in a proper resort and the husbands are along for the ride to keep things sane, or at least, that’s what you’d think.
Dr. Simone and Cecil divided the team up into teams for a series of relay races. They decided to partner people up based on who needed to work through their issues. For example, Dr. Heavenly and Dr. Contessa were on a team together with their husbands. Surely, making them paddleboard across a lake will help them fix their issues.
Ahead of the races, the ladies tried to address Phaedra’s comments from the Med Gala, where she said she wasn’t “like these b*tches.” The ladies tried to explain to her why that might sound a little condescending, but it didn’t matter. Phaedra wasn’t engaging the same way she didn’t engage with Toya the last time they were in Florida. She clearly doesn’t care about any of this.
Simone and Heavenly took control of the room after the failed attempt at talking to Phaedra. These two were like over-eager cruise directors trying to get everyone to do these relay races. According to Simone, their goal is to go back to Atlanta “lighter’ than how they came. Based on what the trailer showed for next week, it’s clear that isn’t going to happen.
Married to Medicine airs on Bravo every Sunday at 9/8c.
