In Season 6, fans of the Real Housewives of Potomac were introduced to Mia Thornton. The Bravoleb had it all: a marriage, successful businesses, and a love for plastic surgery. She was great at stirring the pot, and she often called out the women for their hypocritical attitudes. However, Season 9 is casting a dark light on Mia. The mother of three has found herself having to explain herself out of fibs she came up with. The rest of the women are at their wit’s end and just want Mia to be honest.
The Panama trip was a turning point for Mia Thornton
While on the cast trip to sunny Panama, the holiday took a turn when it was revealed that Mia’s estranged husband, Gordon Thornton, took their children without her knowledge. The episode started with Mia revealing she had no contact with her children for the past two hours. Naturally, the former dancer was beside herself with worry but finally was able to track them down. The entire situation felt icky as Mia shared that Gordon had had a bipolar moment. To top it off, once the children were located, Mia announced she had plans to fly to Atlanta to see Inc. after the girl’s trip.
The math wasn’t mathing for viewers who felt it was irresponsible to take a side trip to the ATL. The women were all upset by Mia’s lackadaisical attitude. Ashley Darby noted that she was “triggered right now hearing this.” But Mia recovered fast from her scare, leading some of the women to believe there was much more to the story.
Mia Thornton goes after Gizelle Bryant
In another scene, Mia tried to put Gizelle Bryant in the hot seat by insinuating that her daughters were sexually active. During another uncomfortable moment, Mia accused Gizelle of once sharing that her daughters had snuck boys into her house when she was out of town. Now, every Real Housewives of Potomac star knows the kids are off-limits. But it seemed Mia had no problem airing out everyone’s dirty laundry. In retaliation, Gizelle noted, “Mia is miserable. Mia is in her moment. This is what Mia does.”
During the confrontation, Mia accused Gizelle of pretending “everything was perfect” on social media. But isn’t that what Instagram is all about? And Gizelle isn’t wrong. Mia has a very bad habit of trying and succeeding at throwing others under the bus in order to take the spotlight off herself. Season 9 has shown that Mia isn’t phased by her personality trait as long as it saves her the headache of explaining the real issues to her friends.
Mia Thornton has lied about her divorce
During the most recent episode of the Real Housewives of Potomac, Gordon decided to have some bread pudding as he cleared the air. While at lunch with Ray Huger, the businessman revealed that Mia had made some “questionable decisions” regarding their two children. This forced Gordon to pick them up and drive them to their beloved nanny. Mia has stated more than once that she has full custody of their children. But once again, her story didn’t align with Gordon’s, who claimed he watched them the most. To make the story even more confusing, he admitted that he had finally gone through with the paternity test of their son.
Viewers learned that the child was indeed Gordons. And in that moment, he told Ray it made him “take a real good hard look at myself and what I need to do to be a better person with my bipolar.” However, once Karen Huger found out about the tea, there was no holding back. She called out every lie Mia had told, and it was eye-opening. The Grand Dame noted, “The fact that you knew about this some time ago … and you’re not going to give them the truth? It actually tells me everything I’ve been thinking. You’re a liar.”
There is no doubt Mia is in some hot water. I hope she can get herself back on track and away from the tall tales sooner rather than later.
