Everyone loves female deckhands on Bravo. Luckily, Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under will soon deliver on our desires via Adair Werley, our latest leading lady on deck. But who is Adair? And does she have the experience and the personality to last for an entire season on BDDU?
Either way, a lack of diversity on the high seas is a known issue in the yachting industry. Consequently, the absence of diverse hiring has bled into this hit nautical franchise, as without experience, getting cast in this series can be difficult. But if you cannot gain employment simply because of the skin you were born into, you cannot gain the needed experience to appear on Below Deck.
Before Season 3 airs, we combed through her social media accounts and her bio on Bravo to get to know Adair a bit more. Here are the details we found on this deckhand, who will hopefully nail her time spent on BDDU.
Adair Werley is an experienced yachtie
Green deckhands are hard to train on this series. Luckily for her new Bosun, Adair noted on her Bravo Bio that she is coming on board with two years of experience in the yachting industry. This experienced Aries enjoys her career choice, especially when her hired yacht takes her to South Africa.
Adair labels this country “the most amazing place I have ever traveled.” For Adair, “Every part was picture-perfect.”
On Instagram, Adair quips that she is “On a boat somewhere” via her bio. Throughout her posted images and reels, her statement rings accurate more times than we can count. From working to lounging, Adair and boats go hand in hand.
Adair also appears to be an avid fisher. The catches she posts online are massive, which her future chefs may or may not appreciate during Season 3 of BDDU. And yes, I wrote the word chef plural, as we are finally getting a sous-chef onboard this series.
From headstands on deck to reeling in heavy catches of the day to playing on water toys, hiking, and working on her fitness, Adair is strong and capable of starring as a deckhand in this franchise. However, she is the least experienced on her team. Hopefully, this fact will not bog her down too much this season.
Here are some fun facts about Adair Werley
In her bio, Adair noted that she is in her crafting era. She has “taken on sewing in the last year,” as she has “always been very crafty with a love of fashion.” Therefore, Adair is now learning to sew her clothing.
My grandfather owned a sewing machine shop in Tampa. As a child, I grew up around his customers and materials. It was magical. Consider me eager to meet a yachtie with these same passions on Bravo.
But can we introduce Adair to Craig Conover? Too soon? If so, perhaps Adair can star in the next Bravo fashion-related crossover. Honestly, the possibilities are endless for Adair if she presents well on Season 3 of BDDU.
When Adair is off the clock and not sewing, she is likely watching Top Chef. But when she feels “sassy,” her Bravo drug of choice is the Real Housewives franchise. Same, Adair.
Finally, Adair also enjoys the gym. Sometimes, she is “that crazy person who works out two times a day,” she admits. However, Adair also loves “drinking beer and playing pool. It is all about balance,” she jokes.
What the sneak peek for BDDU Season 3 teases about Adair Werley
Below Deck Down Under might face rough waters in Season 3. Drama sells, so I get it. But, as the trailer for this new season teases, Adair does not seem to be a divisive character on board. However, her frustrations do sound at least once.
The first time we see Adair, her hands are in her hair, pushing her strands off of her face as she quips, “You don’t just be a f*cking b*tch and not know it.” The way this scene airs makes it seem like Adair is stressing this to Marina Marcondes de Barros, one of the new stews for this series. The camera also pans to show Lara Rigby in her cabin, head down, seemingly equally stressed out.
Could Adair face obstacles with the newest interior department head? Only time will tell.
In her next scene, Adair struggles to push a tender off a sandbar. This task looks physically and mentally exhausting since Captain Jason Chambers is lurking nearby, wearing too many items of clothing, stressing out at the possibility of not getting their little boat freed. After this, Adair seems to disappear from the Season 3 trailer.
But her absence does not make me fret. Instead, I predict that Adair will present as unproblematic this season on BDDU. However, godspeed to her department heads, as the trailer teases that one of them might have to walk the plank.
Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.
