When it comes to the GOATS of the Real Housewives of Orange County the first person that naturally pops to mind is Vicki Gunvalson. She has been the heart and soul since the birth of the franchise and often likes to proclaim that she launched its success. Whether you like her or not, Vicki was always an extremely polarizing character. But now that Season 19 has been released, she has presumably been left off the list. However, instead of mourning, I think this might be a smart idea.
Vicki Gunvalson has always been hot and cold
Viewers of the Real Housewives of Orange County have been playing this game of chess with Vicki for years. Shortly before Season 18 premiered, she let slip during a Q&A session on her Instagram Stories that she would be hanging up her orange. At the time, she wrote, “I am not but will watch my girl [Shannon Beador].” Vicki was shown as a major alliance throughout the season, popping up to put in her two cents.
She then added, “I don’t necessarily have a ‘favorite,’ but Jennifer Pedranti and I are close.” But we did see Vicki make a few cameos. She was involved in the mock The Traitors game, which was hosted by Teddi Mellencamp. I don’t know about you, but it felt odd to have Vicki hanging with the group when it was so very clear that she no longer was the mold holding them together.
Vicki Gunvalson started to sour on RHOC
As they say, all good things must come to an end. I’m not sure when, but Vicki started to outgrow the reality TV world. It might have been when she no longer called the shots. She once stated that doing the Real Housewives of Orange County “definitely feels like it’s a deal with the devil.” She spoke out on the Vice show, The Dark Side of Reality TV, about how bad she had it during the early days. The mother of two revealed, “Season 2 I believe I got paid $5,000 for the whole season.”
Vicki added, “Not much money. I didn’t even have an attorney look over my contract. I had no idea what I was doing.” It was clear that Vicki was growing tired of jumping through hoops. She went as far as to blame the show for the breakup of her marriage. But I think die-hard RHOC fans will recall that her love tank wasn’t the only one half-empty.
Vicki Gunvalson had a rift with Tamra Judge
While visiting SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Vicki openly spoke about her recent experience on the Real Housewives of Orange County. As it stands today, she doesn’t seem all that impressed with the series. And this is probably why she is better off bowing out. When asked about returning, Queen V quipped, “Well, a lot of people say it depends on who’s on the cast. There is some disconnect with, obviously, everybody knows Tamra and I.”
According to the Queen of Fan’s Former Hearts, “It would be very difficult to film with her, but you know, I always have interests. It’s like something I started. I don’t want to just drop off and die.” As a fan of the franchise from day one, I think it would be really hard to have the two Titans filming but not speaking. It would be another Real Housewives of New Jersey all over again. And no one wants that. Vicki might be willing to have a conversation, but for now, she is not going to come back in any capacity.
“I’m good with a conversation, and I care about her a lot. I just don’t like how she treats people and that’s my stance. And I don’t want to be around people that hurt people, and our circle gets super small as you get older, and that’s where I’m at with her. I want really, truly for her to have a great life. ” But Vicki should also look in the mirror as she hasn’t always treated all of her cast mates with respect in the past either. So it might be a good change of pace for Vicki to focus her energy on something else, Good luck and Godspeed.
The Real Housewives of Orange County is available to stream on Peacock.
