It’s becoming a Southern Charm issue. After Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover announced their split, there was bound to be commentary from their costars. Austen Kroll, for one, was vocal about his reservations even while the two were still a couple. Even Patricia Altschul got involved and gave a response to the breakup while on Watch What Happens Live.
Well, Paige was paying attention. And seemingly hours after the Southern Charm matriarch told Andy Cohen that she found the Summer House star “mean” to her then-boyfriend, Paige responded via Instagram Stories.
Paige DeSorbo’s response divided followers
On January 31, Paige posted, “Teaching your daughters to have a voice is way more important than being nice.”
Just a day prior, Patricia gave her two cents on the breakup. According to her, there are patterns in behavior between Paige and Craig’s ex-girlfriend Naomie Olindo.
Patricia said, “I thought that Paige was mean to Craig. I did. And if you think back, Naomie was mean to Craig. And I think he deserves somebody who would really love and cherish him. Because remember, he said to [Paige] ‘I want to get married and have kids’ and she said, ‘Bleh?’”
The “nice” topic exploded on Reddit. Fans are divided on what to make of this.
“You can have a voice and still be kind,” one comment read.
“Being nice and being kind are very different things in my opinion,” wrote another follower.
A third wrote in support of the fashion influencer, “I respect both Paige and Naomie as strong women. And let’s not infantilize Craig in the matter either please, he’s a grown man with agency attracted to strong, independent women.”
Paige made a statement on her split on the December 30 episode of the Giggly Squad podcast. She said that while “no one did anything,” ultimately it was “the right decision.”
“I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want,” she concluded.
