When Below Deck Down Under returns for Season 3, Marina Marcondes de Barros will appear. This stew is new to the Bravo family. But luckily for her new department head, she is not new to the yachting industry. So, who is Marina, and does she have what it takes to survive an entire season of chaos and clutter in the interior department of BDDU?
Thankfully, Marina completed her Bravo bio, which offers us a sneak peek into all things her. Likewise, her Instagram account also offers several clues about her preferences, hobbies, and personality. And from what I can gather, she will likely come across well.
However, Marina might quickly become our BDDU Season 3 wild card, as the sneak peek fails to focus on her storylines. Could this be because Marina is a drama-free stew? Let us unpack our findings on Marina to help us answer this question.
Marina Marcondes de Barros has an impressive resume
Marina is coming on board the motor yacht Katina with four years of experience. In contrast, Lara Rigby, her new Chief Stew, has fourteen years of experience in this industry. However, Marina does outrank one of her other stews this season, so Marina will likely earn the title of second stew on BDDU.
As for how she feels about her newest home away from home, Marina notes that the Katina is massive. On this vessel are “a lot of interior” spaces, which this stew be attending to left, right, and center. Thankfully, this Brazilian seems like she will be up for the task. Her Instagram page shows her flawlessly fulfilling her stew duties on board many different yachts, working on everything from tablescaping to service.
In one image, Marina reveals that she thrives the highest with dinner service decor, calling it her “favorite part of the job.” Her pictures track, proving that she has a knack for color theory, napkin folding, and centerpiece arrangements that never overwhelm her guest’s spaces.
Marina is also very well-traveled. This perk arrives courtesy of her chosen industry, which sees Marina visiting exotic ports of call like Monaco and Japan, whereas all we ever get to see is the views from our living room windows. Cheers to you, Marina, and may your four years of experience in this industry prove invaluable to your newest crew on BDDU.
Fun facts about Marina Marcondes de Barros
In lurking through her Instagram, Marina is a clear contender for Nomad of the Year. She never seems to stay in one place for long. However, she regularly checks in with her hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Likely aided by her travel experiences, Marina labels herself “a polyglot.” For those unaware, this term describes a person who can fluently speak many languages. While Marina does not list which languages she has complete control over, I applaud her studies in this area, as this skill set will help her make connections while her career continues to take shape.
Plus, Marina can speak to any charter guest that comes onboard her vessel. If I were her captain, I would enjoy someone with this ability on our watch.
For Marina, working as a stew means she gets to hit the “pause button” on her bills while her bank accounts see “a crazy increase.” Her favorite charters so far involve a jaunt to New York and another to Kyoto, Japan. Hopefully, her sunny ports of call on BDDU are equally enjoyable.
In her downtime, Marina enjoys “long showers” and watching movies. What the sneak peek for BDDU Season 3 teases about Marina Marcondes de Barros.
When the trailer dropped for BDDU Season 3, I dissected every frame, eager to decipher how each crew member might behave this season. Yet, Marina is one of the more difficult stars to pinpoint in this area. She appears throughout the clips, yet it is never enough to grasp how she will aid in the given storylines.
In her first scene, Marina listens as a fellow crew member states her frustrations. However, it is not made clear who this human was annoyed with. Was it Marina? Or was Marina just the closest listening ear?
Following this, Marina appears again, taking a dollar-filled selfie post charter with one of her fellow stews. Both ladies are all smiles.
Several clips later, Marina reappears on deck, checking her glassware for spots. But then, Marina fails to emerge again. Instead, the remainder of the BDDU Season 3 trailer hones in on the drama amongst this season’s department heads, leaving Marina’s future storylines on this series with a big blank question mark.
Whether or not Marina lasts an entire season, scores a boatmance, or even earns the praises from her powers that be is unclear. Therefore, only time will tell how Marina does as a stew on BDDU.
Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.
