Molly O’Connell was the perfect addition to Southern Charm. I was skeptical when the model was announced, but her self-deprecating humor has won me over. She isn’t afraid to talk about issues like cankles and reusing fat for breast augmentation. She loves music, especially her euphonium. And overall is the biggest nerd we’ve ever had the privilege of watching on the series. Now, imagine if the blonde and Shep Rose, the ultimate Peter Pan imposter, got together. Wouldn’t it just be perfect?
There is chemistry between Shep Rose and Molly O’Connell
I couldn’t be the only one to notice how interested Shep was in Molly’s Charleston concert. He first spotted Molly walking a shelter dog in the park and pulled off the road to go hang out with her. Riddle me this. What man actively stops what he is doing to hang out with a girl if he isn’t remotely interested? However, Shep single-handedly rounded up the troops to go and support Molly in her solo.
I’ve always known Shep to be a fan of the arts, but he went the extra mile to show his pride in his friend. In her confessional, Molly noted it “was really moving” to see everyone there for her. Cameras panned to Shep, who told her, “Rapture! Rapture!” and gave her a big hug. I usually find it hard to see Shep in any light other than a playboy, but it was cute how enthusiastic he was about the concert. He even stood up to see Molly play during the concert. Not to mention the countless times he leaned forward in his seat to get a better look. Both could easily bond over their shared passion for music.
Molly O’Connell has admitted her feelings
It didn’t take too long after the concert for Molly to make a bold declaration about the silver-spooned Shep. According to Molly, there might have been the smallest amount of history between the pair. “Shep is undeniably a handsome man. He’s extremely intelligent; He’s very open-minded,” she shared in a confessional. “Overall, I think Shep is definitely up there for me.” However, at the time that the confessional was filmed, Shep was in a relationship with Miss Bahamas, Sienna Evans, who turned out to be an extreme fan.
Not one to sidestep the humor in it all, Molly joked, “Technically, Shep could be her dad.” As for her dating life, she told viewers, “I think a lot of Southern men, they just want some young girl who is not going to question them on things. But I’m going to question everything — what were you doing? What did you do that day? Who were you talking to?” But Molly has spoken highly of Shep. During a Watch What Happen Live appearance, she shared, “Shep said just to be authentic and be myself because people can tell when you’re not.”

As of Southern Charm Episode 6, fans have already heard Shep call Molly a “Babe” and tell her to give herself “a little more credit” when it comes to compliments. I think Shep is maturing. Between cutting back on partying and putting himself out there, there is a good version of Shep. He is, without a doubt, a smart man who often throws out references to literature and history that are easy to miss because he doesn’t make a big deal about them. He is looking for what most other people are looking for: a solid life partner. And I think Molly would be the perfect match. The model is a good age match at 36 while he is 44. He would have an equal match for once instead of a much younger woman who hasn’t explored life like he has.
Molly deserves to be treated like a princess, and I think Shep is capable of that. Looking at his last relationship with Sienna, she was his unattainable island hottie. But Molly is authentically his type. Molly gives me Jennifer Lawrence vibes, and Shep would be so lucky to call her his girlfriend. Shep is single now. So if he can pull it off and really admit that he is aging and figure out what he wants, Molly just might be the girl for him.
